Special Assistant To The Chief Diversity Officer

Austin Rivers is the special assistant to the chief diversity officer at the Rockefeller Brothers Fund. Prior to joining the Fund, his roles included manager of partnerships at True North EDI, director of operations at SPL, Inc., and working on various political campaigns as a member of the field staff. In addition, he worked for several years as a musical theater actor performing off-Broadway, in international and national tours, and regional theaters across the country. Mr. Rivers holds a Master of Public Administration from the University of Central Florida where his studies focused on organizational culture; diversity, equity, and inclusion programs; and strategic planning. He also holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from New York University where he double majored in musical theater and political science. In his spare time, Mr. Rivers runs a small nonprofit organization he founded in 2020 called Knit the Rainbow, Inc., whose mission is to provide handmade winter garments to homeless LGBTQ+ youth.

Mark Adiedo is the vice president for people and culture and the chief diversity officer at the Rockefeller Brothers Fund. This executive leadership position includes oversight of the Fund’s talent, organizational culture, and certain operations functions. In this capacity, Mr. Adiedo is responsible for developing and leading the Fund’s people, culture, and organizational development strategies. As the chief diversity officer, he leads organizational development initiatives and the Fund’s organizational culture efforts. He oversees human resources for a number of RBF affiliates including Rockefeller Family Fund, David Rockefeller Fund, Asian Cultural Council, Trust for Mutual Understanding, Environmental Grantmakers Associations, and V. Kann Rasmussen Foundation.

Mr. Adiedo has more than 10 years of executive experience in nonprofit management, particularly in human resources strategic management and organizational development. He has worked and consulted for several New York City nonprofits that address issues of homelessness, sustainable development, displaced populations, and global humanitarian assistance. Before joining the Fund, he led global human resources for Church World Service and managed labor relations for its New York City operations.

Mr. Adiedo is a board member of The Interchurch Center where he presently serves on its personnel and compensation committee. He also served as a co-chair for Philanthropy New York’s Foundations Administrators Network. He holds a bachelor’s degree in social sciences from the Catholic University of Eastern Africa, a master’s degree in industrial sociology from the University of Witwatersrand in South Africa, and a master’s degree in human resource management from The New School’s Milano School of International Affairs, Management, and Urban Policy.
