Denver Colorado's Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design (RMCAD) is a four-year school that prepares artist-students to work in the Fine Arts as well as in more marketable, business-oriented art careers. Everyone at RMCAD takes a core curriculum of courses that focus on the fundamentals of composition. After this foundation students may then branch out into one of several majors including Fine Art, Illustration, Art Education, Game Art and Animation. Another attractive feature of a Rocky Mountain education is the scheduling flexibility. Students have the option of studying exclusively on-campus, exclusively through online courses or a combination of the two. Student life gives students an opportunity to expand art-skills, exhibit work and collaborate. With approximately four galleries on the RMCAD campus and well-known artists-in-residence regularly giving guest seminars on campus, students have many opportunities outside of the class and the studio. Career services and alumni networking events also provide students with opportunities for all kinds of work upon graduation. Other services include academic advising and support and financial aid for those who qualify. Admission to RMCAD is based on one's academic performance, an interview, SAT scores and, very importantly, one's portfolio of artistic work.
