Job Description:
The Department of Chemistry is seeking qualified applicants to teach both Biochemistry lecture and laboratory sections. This course focuses on the chemistry of biological macromolecules, including carbohydrates, lipids, proteins, and nucleic acids, with a particular focus on their structure and function. And an introduction to these compounds' metabolic pathways.
Requirements:
Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Chemistry, or a closely related discipline or a master's degree with extensive experience. Applicants with ABD status toward completion of their Ph.D. in Chemistry or Biochemistry are also welcome to apply. Prior teaching experience is preferred. Particularly strong candidates will have demonstrated past experience in teaching at the collegiate level in chemistry, both in lecture and in the laboratory.

Job Description:
Under the direction of the Dean of the University College, the Continuing Education (CE) Instructor is responsible for conducting non-degree professional certificate programs, courses, and seminars for non-credit individuals and organizations through the University College's Center for Professional Development. CE Instructors offer flexible formats, employing state of art practices, ranging from intensive sessions focused on various areas of interest, to professional certificates that are innovative, integrated, relevant, and competency-based, to personal development programs covering a range of topics.
Develop and Conduct Non-Credit Professional Development (PD) Offering(s)
Design and develop a high-quality continuing education offering and provide a detailed outline of each session.
Complete the CE Offering Description Form that includes course description, instructional methods, objectives, required texts, projects, expectations of students, course details, and instructor contact information (including an RWU email address).
Issue a grade in accordance with the approved CPD grade scheme upon the completion of the CE session and create and issue signed certificates, CEUs, etc. issued by the dean of continuing studies as required.
Distribute, collect, and evaluate student/participant satisfaction surveys to determine the effectiveness of the continuing education offering(s).
Requirements:

Knowledge of conducting trainings and/or professional development to adult learners.

The Department of Fisheries, Animal & Veterinary Sciences (FAVS) in the College of the Environment and Life Sciences (CELS) at the University of Rhode Island (URI) invites applications for an academic year (9-month), tenure-track Assistant Professor position specializing in Fish Ecophysiology. URI, the top public university in New England, is a R1 land and sea grant research university located in Kingston, Rhode Island, a beautiful seaside community that is well connected by car, bus, and rail about 40 min from Providence and 1.5 hours from Boston.
FAVS has 11 full-time tenure-track faculty members and 4 full-time teaching faculty. Our faculty conduct impactful research on pressing problems in animal health, sustainable food production, and fisheries and aquaculture management. Research spans from molecular and physiological mechanisms to ecosystem-level processes in terrestrial, freshwater, coastal, and marine environments. Many faculty take advantage of Rhode Island's vibrant natural habitats and URI's research facilities, including East Farm aquaculture facilities, and the aquarium laboratories at the Narragansett Bay Campus. Our department has over 325 undergraduates majoring in either Aquaculture and Fisheries Science (BS), Animal and Veterinary Science (BS), or Sustainable Agriculture and Food Systems (BS), and offers courses for many undergraduates across campus. We offer an Accelerated Bachelors to Masters in Sustainable Systems and a 5th Year Master of Oceanography, as well as a Marine Technical Certificate, and Zoo and Aquarium Science Certificate. Our faculty mentor graduate students enrolled in thesis-based research at both the M.S. and Ph.D. levels in the interdisciplinary Biological and Environmental Sciences graduate program, and a Master of Environmental Science and Management program.
As the flagship university of the Ocean State, URI has a vibrant community of students, staff, and faculty focused on aquatic and animal research with ample opportunity for interdisciplinary collaboration. On the main campus, the Department of Marine Affairs develops policy, economics, and coastal management perspectives that translate scientific findings into actionable governance frameworks. The Department of Biological Sciences contributes expertise in marine ecology, molecular biology, and evolutionary biology. FAVS brings strengths in fish and shellfish biology, marine and freshwater aquaculture, fisheries science, and animal health and welfare. The Graduate School of Oceanography (GSO), based on the Narragansett Bay Campus 6 miles from the main URI campus, offers dedicated facilities for marine research, including access to flow-through aquaria, mesocosms, and research vessels (both small and large). GSO faculty conduct cutting-edge research in biological, chemical, geological, and physical oceanography. In the Department of Ocean Engineering in the College of Engineering, faculty and students develop autonomous underwater vehicles, coastal resilience technologies, and marine renewable energy systems.

The successful candidate will generate an internationally recognized program of research and scholarship in fish ecophysiology with applications to aquaculture and fisheries. POSITION SUMMARY:
Teach undergraduate and graduate courses, develop an externally funded research program, advise undergraduate and graduate students, engage in university service and support public engagement.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Establish a robust research program supported by extramural funding in fish ecophysiology and aquaculture, utilizing existing facilities at URI's East Farm and Narragansett Bay Campus. Notable areas for potential scholarship include, but are not limited to, physiological applications to sustainable aquaculture management, physiological responses to environmental stressors, metabolic and energetic trade-offs, thermal biology and climate adaptation, disease resistance and immune function, and/or how these factors impact population dynamics.
* Develop a sustained record of publications in peer-reviewed journals.
* Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in fish ecophysiology, finfish aquaculture, fish population dynamics, and related areas of expertise that will enhance degree programs in the Department of Fisheries, Animal & Veterinary Sciences and the College of the Environment and Life Sciences, with an emphasis on experiential learning and applying inclusive, evidence-based teaching and learning approaches to ensure the academic success of a diverse student population.
* Provide advising, training, and research mentorship to undergraduate and graduate students.
* Engage in outreach and service activities as well as governance within the Department, College, University, and broader scholarly community.
* Actively engage with the policy and communication dimensions of aquaculture governance and coastal management to ensure that research outputs contribute to the benefit of both state-level and broader communities.

Position Summary
The Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice at the University of Rhode Island is recruiting for a full-time Assistant Teaching Professor and invites interested candidates to apply for the 2026-2027 academic year. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The successful candidate will be expected to have strong skills in computational social science with a substantive research program on politics informed by innovative quantitative, data-intensive, or computationally-intensive techniques. Competitive candidates will have a scholarly track record with evidence of high-quality research in their respective field of study as well as demonstrated potential in program leadership, advising and mentoring of Ph.D. students, and curriculum development.
The successful candidate will be responsible for directing the new interdisciplinary Ph.D. program in Computational Social Science (CSS) within the College of Arts & Sciences. As the Director, the candidate will lead the development and refinement of its curriculum, foster interdisciplinary collaborations, and oversee recruitment, advising, and mentoring of Ph.D. students. This position will involve working closely with faculty across multiple social science departments to ensure the program remains at the cutting edge of computational methodologies and their applications in the social sciences.
The Computational Social Science program's administrative home resides within the Political Science Department; this position will split their teaching and service duties across the CSS and traditional Political Science programs.
QUALIFICATIONS
REQUIRED:
1) Ph.D. in Political Science, Computational Social Science, or in a closely related discipline.
2) Expertise in one or more of the following areas: computational social science, big-data analytics, machine learning, AI, natural language processing, text analysis, or network analysis.
3) Demonstrated ability to excel in teaching advanced coursework on applications of innovative quantitative, data-intensive, or computationally-intensive techniques in the social sciences.
4) Demonstrated experience in advising and mentoring of students.
5) Evidence of research in the area of computational social science, with scholarly work commensurate with level of academic experience.
6) Demonstrated potential to develop and maintain an externally grant-funded research program relevant to Computational Social Science.
7) Demonstrated interpersonal communication skills.
8) Demonstrated proficiency in written communication skills.
9) Demonstrated experience working with diverse populations or in diverse environments.
PREFERRED:
1) Ability to teach undergraduate research methods courses and substantive political science courses.
2) Demonstrated leadership and management skills in the areas of program development, student recruitment, and coordination of faculty and resources.
3) Demonstrated experience or interest in interdisciplinary collaboration, particularly with statistics, computer science, or related fields.
4) Demonstrated interest in developing collaborative research and/or consulting to support the interdisciplinary nature of programs within the Department, College, and the University as a whole.

online MS degree. The interdisciplinary nature of our department will provide the new
faculty member with opportunities to interact with a broad range of colleagues in areas

Sciences.
Key Responsibilities:
Responsibilities may include teaching a variety of undergraduate courses, coordinating
multi-section courses, teaching large size classes, teaching general education courses
aimed at students throughout the campus, and course and project development. Course
development involves preparing exams and syllabi, maintaining online resources and
participation in all aspects of the assessment cycle for courses. The course load is 24
credits per year with a mixture of 3-credit and 4-credit courses. In addition to other
responsibilities, teaching faculty are expected to participate in department service
activities as they pertain to their normal instructional responsibilities
