Role:

A Painter prepares and paints walls and surfaces. As a painter, you will clean and tape the job site, covering up furniture or surfaces you wish to protect from damage. You will prep scaffoldings for buildings, carry out minor repairs, apply plaster to fill cracks and holes, cover fixtures, and scrape off old paint. You might apply primers, solutions, or sealer on the walls of rooms, buildings, or other structures before going in with wallpaper or paint on the walls.

You will need to blend paint, oil, and other materials to achieve the desired vision of your client and use the necessary tools to efficiently apply a durable coating to the surfaces in question.

You have to be able to follow orders and manage your time efficiently, as well as carry out the necessary logistical arrangements such as acquiring and transporting your tools and materials.

Painter Helper

Role:

Painter helpers usually work with master painters and get instructions from them. They may also handle minor painting works such as sanding, taping, and grinding. The responsibilities of a paint helper may also include mixing the paint to achieve the desired look and adding primer to it. After a day's job, the paint helper works to tidy up the workspace by removing tapes and leftover supplies. He/She also works to help maintain a safe environment for work and manage painting supplies and equipment.

There is no strict academic requirement for this role. With a high school diploma and some training, you are good for the job. A certificate from college or a trade school and a few years of experience will be an advantage. Also, a painter helper is required to have physical strength, technical skills and should be able to multitask and work in a team. The average salary of a painter helper is $39,246.

Industrial Painter

Role:

Industrial painters clean, paint, and varnish. Their primary duty in this role includes painting buildings, houses, or cars, cleaning surfaces before layering color, and maintaining technical equipment for the job. They need to safely dispose of chemical waste and ensure high safety standards are met.

Even though some industrial painters have a college degree, it's possible to become one with only a high school degree or GED and the skills to operate spray painting equipment. New workers are trained but tend to prefer applicants with at least one year of industrial painting experience.

An industrial painter's average salary is roughly $36,671 per year, which is $17.63 per hour. Painters work indoors and outdoors depending upon the work and demanding a lot of bending, kneeling, reaching, and climbing.
