Primary Purpose: Covers roofs with roofing materials, other than sheet metal, such as composition shingles or sheets, wood shingles, or asphalt and gravel, to waterproof roofs, in accordance with generally accepted standards of the craft.

Typical Duties:

Applies appropriate insulation, cuts roofing paper or sheet goods to size using a knife, and nails, staples, cements, or vulcanizes it to roof in overlapping strips to form base for roofing materials

Alines roofing material with edge of roof, and overlaps successive layers, gauging distance of overlap with chalkline, gauge on shingling hatchet, or by lines on shingles

Fastens composition shingles or sheets to roof, with asphalt, cement or nails. Punches holes in slate, tile, terra cotta, or wooden shingles, using punch and hammer

Cuts strips of flashing and fits them into angles formed by walls, vents, and intersecting roof surfaces

When applying asphalt or tar and gravel to roof, mops or pours hot asphalt or tar onto roof base

Applies alternate layers of hot asphalt or tar and roofing paper until roof covering is as specified

Applies gravel or pebbles over top layer, using rake or stiff-bristled broom

May construct and attach prefabricated roof sections to rafters
May attach shingles to exterior walls and apply roofing paper and tar to shower pans, decks and promenade to waterproof surfaces

May be required to rig mobile and stationary scaffolding on structures in accordance with corporate guidelines.

Job Responsibilites:

• Helps to install, repair, and to restore commercial roofing projects as part of our team.
• Working outside in a wide variety of weather conditions and meeting physical demands of the commercial roofing industry.

Work Hours & Benefits: This position requires full time employment. Work hours are specific to each project. Employees can expect 40-60 hours per week. Benefits include:

Roofer/Laborer Qualifications/Skills:

• Laborer:
• Entry level (no experience required)
• Dependable
• Trustworthy
• Hard working
• Roofer:
• 5+ years installation experience with BUR, EPDM, PVC, TPO, Single Ply, coatings and other forms of low-slope roofing systems.
• Bilingual in Spanish and English is preferred.

Pay Rate: Hourly rates ranging between $17.00 to $24.00 per hour. Pay rate is based on candidates experience in commercial roofing industry.

Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements:

• High school GED or equivalent is preferred.
• Formal education can be supplemented with on-the-job experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform work in accordance with safety guidelines and job specifications.
• Restore, Removal, Repair, and replacement of various commercial roofing systems under the direction of a Foreman or Project Manager.
• Knowledge of Commercial Roofing is preferred.
• Ability to receive instruction and produce work accordingly.
• Punctuality and consistent attendance are required.

Requirements

• Two (2) years of roofing experience.
• High School Diploma OR GED (REQUIRED).
• Able and willing to get to and from the jobsites on a daily basis, on your own (REQUIRED).
• Able and willing to travel out of town/state, when local work is not available, for 3 to 4 weeks at a time (REQUIRED).
• Driver's License.
• Willing to complete all pre-employment screening processes.
• Willing to work in at varying heights and weather conditions.
• Ability to work overtime when necessary.
• 18 years of age or older.
• Authorized to work in the United States.

Physical Working Conditions:

• Must be able to lift to 50 pounds at a time on a regular basis throughout the day.
• Must be able to frequently ascend/descend ladder up to 40 feet.
• Must be able to remain in a stationary position for an extended period of time.
• Constantly works in outdoor weather conditions.
• Must be able to work in varied extreme weather condition (extreme hot and extreme cold weather).
• Load and unload material and equipment from variant heights.
• Load material and equipment from vehicles on and off the roof.
• Lift heavy objects by hand or with a host and clean work area.
• Shovel loose materials such as gravel, sand metal snow, or dirt.
