A room clerk is responsible for receiving guests and assigning them to their respective rooms, typically in a hotel setting. You will manage guests' reservations, explain the policies of the premises, and process their payments for staying at the hotel. You are also to ensure the rooms' cleanliness, reaching out to the maintenance for any repairs and requests for additional room items. You must have excellent communication and customer service skills, respond to the customer's inquiries and concerns, and resolve service complaints immediately. Your duties also include shopping online grocery orders for customers, cashier function, and asking the manager for other duties.

A high school diploma is required for this position. However, organizational skill is the most important skill as a room clerk. You must have excellent customer service skills, be detail-oriented when performing data entry, and also have excellent communication skills. The average annual salary earned by a room clerk is $29,000.
