Roosevelt University company history timeline

1946

In 1946 the college purchased the deteriorating Auditorium Building on Michigan and Congress Avenues, and faculty spent time not only in class but also cleaning, painting, and repairing the grand old facility.

1947

In 1947, the college purchased the Auditorium Building for one dollar, and it became the permanent home.

1959

The college was rededicated to both Franklin and Eleanor in 1959.

1964

Edward Sparling serves as president until 1964.

1978

A suburban branch in Schaumburg was opened in 1978.

1996

In 1996, Roosevelt opened a second permanent campus in northwest suburban Schaumburg.

2000

In 2000 the college is renamed the Chicago College of Performing Arts.

2004

By 2004 the 65,000 alumni included the late Chicago mayor Harold Washington, jazz great Ramsey Lewis, jouralist and author Ira Berkow, and police chiefs Matt Rodriguez, LeRoy Martin, and Fred Rice.

2020

On March 9, 2020, Robert Morris University Illinois merged with Roosevelt University.
