Rosecrance company history timeline

1916

The couple left provisions in their wills to establish an orphanage and, when Fannie Rosecrance died in 1916, their home in New Milford became the Rosecrance Memorial Home for Children.

1966

Siouxland Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse (SCADA) was created in 1966 and provided substance abuse prevention and treatment services to the residents of Woodbury, Plymouth, Cherokee, and Ida Counties continuously.

1976

Jackson Recovery Centers was established in 1976 by Doctor W.L. Jackson and his wife Marienne.

1982

Rosecrance had started serving children with behavior disorders and, by 1982, Rosecrance had formally changed its mission to offer adolescent addiction treatment.

1986

In 1986, SCADA merged with St Luke's Regional Medical Center, became the "Addiction Center," and combined outpatient and half-way houses with the detoxification and inpatient services.

1989

In 1989, Gordon Chemical Dependency Center also became affiliated with St Luke's.

1992

Rosecrance expanded its offering in 1992 when it began treating adults at the 32-bed Evergreen Recovery Center in downtown Rockford.

1995

In February of 1995, the assets of the Midwest Iowa Alcohol and Drug Addiction Center (MIADAC) were acquired by St Luke's Gordon Recovery Centers.

1998

In 1998, Gordon Recovery Centers disaffiliated from St Luke's and reestablished itself as an independent, free-standing not-for-profit addiction program.

2002

In April of 2002, Doctor Bill Jackson retired as medical director.

2003

The two organizations had worked together since 2003 to operate the area’s first transcranial magnetic stimulation clinic.

Established in 2003, Connections Counseling is Dane County’s largest behavioral health outpatient clinic.

2004

The progress continued into the new millennium when, in August 2004, Rosecrance opened a new $14 million, 78-bed campus to serve youth on University Drive in Rockford—The Griffin Williamson Adolescent Treatment Center.

2010

By 2010, it had become clear that Rosecrance and the Janet Wattles Center had similar, somewhat parallel missions.

2011

The two organizations officially merged on September 1, 2011, forming the state’s most extensive and comprehensive provider of mental health services.

2016

The first merger took place in July of 2016 with an organization called Community Elements.

2018

The second merger took place in January of 2018 with an organization called Prairie Center.

2019

In 2019, Jackson Recovery Centers changed its name to Rosecrance Jackson Centers after affiliating with Rosecrance Health Network.

2020

The next expansion came in late 2020 when Rosecrance acquired Connections Counseling in Madison, Wisconsin.
