Team Overview
The Decision Products team strives to utilize best in class modeling techniques and industry leading data science to drive PG&E's transition to the sustainable energy network of the future through data driven decision making. This work moves beyond descriptive reporting and is focused on pushing the business forward through applied statistics, predictive and prescriptive analytics, and insightful tool design. The cornerstone of these high value analytics is one of the largest smart meter usage databases in the industry, that when combined with billing, program engagement, customer demographic, grid, and other data sources has unprecedented potential.
Current and past projects include:
Development of computer vision models aimed at accelerating and automating asset inspections processes
Predicting electric distribution equipment failure before it occurs allowing for proactive maintenance
Optimizing non-wires alternative resource portfolios, including location and resource adequacy considerations
Analyzing customer demographic, program participation, and SmartMeter interval data to build program targeted propensity models
Assessing the impact and viability of grid edge technologies and distributed energy resources
Supervised and unsupervised machine learning models using Python and Spark, executed on AWS
Position Summary
We have an opening for a full time Technical Product Manager to facilitate and enable data driven decision making efforts. In this role you will work as part of cross functional teams, including data scientists, technology experts, and subject matter experts to develop data driven solutions. Through a focus on iterative development, clear communications, and facilitative leadership this role will help the team continue its history of success. PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. We would not anticipate that the individual hired into this role would land at or near the top half of the range described below, but the decision will be dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
A reasonable salary range is:
Bay Area Minimum: $126,000.00
Bay Area Mid-point: $163,000.00
Bay Area Maximum: $200,000.00

California Minimum: $120,000.00
California Mid-point: $155,000.00
California Maximum: $190,000.00
This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned location based on business need.
Responsibilities:
Project Management
Define users' problem statements, use cases, and functional requirements
Development of prioritized project plans and resource allocation needs
Facilitate on-time project completion by codifying roles and responsibilities commitments
Coordinate and conduct agile/scrum sprint events and cycles as appropriate for the project
Identification of project risks, followed by development of contingency plans
Solve and document roadblocks the project team faces as part of continuous improvement efforts
Conduct user testing sessions as part of an iterative development process
Craft regular updates to leadership on project status, successes, and learnings
Promote a continuous improvement mindset by conducting after action reviews and sharing learnings
Cross-Line of Business Engagement with Teams, Senior Leaders, and Regulators
Develop materials for, and lead presentations to, senior leadership
Understand and effectively communicate how individual projects fit into a broad strategic landscape
Partner with internal clients to advance business processes, based on analytical findings
Support the development of external communications explaining PG&E's analytical capabilities, current project portfolio, vision for the future, and relevant policy positions
Work with team leadership to continually improve analytics at PG&E via demonstrations, mentoring, disseminating best practices, etc.
Minimum Qualifications:
BA/BS or equivalent experience in appropriate technical discipline (computer science, engineering, applied sciences, mathematics, statistics, econometrics or similar quantitatively focused subject areas)
Project Management certification (Agile, Lean Six Sigma, PMP, etc.)
Minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in managing moderately complex product/software development cycles/projects in advanced analytics, data science, or software development
Experience with IT professional service agreements and materials logistics
Desired Qualifications:
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Proven ability to translate business desires into technical requirements
History of working on complex multi-stage projects with a diverse team
Demonstrated commitment to teamwork and enabling others
Experience with relevant project management tools (Jira, Asana, etc.), version control tools (Git, Bitbucket. etc.), data science and machine learning tools/infrastructure (AWS suite of products, Jupyter, etc.), and methodologies (Agile, Design thinking, Kanban, etc.)”
