PART TIME - CLASSROOM AIDE - MEDICAL OR DENTAL ASSISTANTS - MORNINGS & EVENINGS AVAILABLE The Classroom Aide may provide assistance to Primary or Secondary Instructors in the classroom, and students who need tutoring in individual and group sessions. Aides may also proctor exams. The Classroom Aide works under the direct supervision of the Associate Director and with support from the Full Time Instructor or other faculty. POSITION OBJECTIVE: Under the direction of the Supervisor of Early Childhood and the lead teacher, the caregiver will be responsible for assisting the classroom teacher in the general supervision and management of the class, as well as implementing the teacher's classroom activities. The caregiver is responsible for assisting in the child's social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development. ENTRY REQUIREMENTS: Must be 18 years of age. Meet the requirements set forth by the licensing agency. Documentation of a physical examination including a TB test is mandatory within 30 days of starting work, and thereafter, as required. I-Chat and Central Registry Clearance verification must be completed prior to start date. CPR and First Aid Certification is required within 60 days of start date and renewed every year. Experience with High Scope curriculum and COR anecdotal note taking is preferred. Completion of 8 hour MiRegistry Health and Safety Training DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Implement the High Scope curriculum with fidelity and integrity. Assist in general overall classroom management. React kindly and firmly in a positive manner when disciplining children. Direct children indoors and outdoors. Assist in planning and implementing the daily program under the direction of the teacher. Assist in planning and preparing the learning environment, setting up learning activities, and preparing needed materials and supplies. Monitor the quantity, quality, appearance, maintenance and storage of all supplies and equipment needed for the program. Be able to lift and carry 40 pounds Establish and maintain a positive relationship with all co-workers and parents. Attend all staff meetings that are required. Adhere to all licensing regulations in accordance with state laws and requirements. Follow all safety, blood borne and child abuse prevention guidelines. Continue professional development through community involvement, professional reading, workshops and seminars or formal education for 24 hours of training. Maintain the appropriate staff-to-child ratios. Must interface with the classroom teacher and other assistant teachers to make the classroom climate a positive one. Welcome parents and children each day by name. Assume equal and shared responsibility for general housekeeping tasks. Communicate with other staff on a regular basis regarding the care of the children. Prepare children for rest/nap time. Exhibit excellent attendance. Assist the lead teacher with anecdotal note taking for all children.
