1978

1978: Ross University School of Medicine was founded by Robert Ross as a provider of medical education offering Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree programs

1981

1981: Classes and laboratory exercises are held in a newly constructed academic building on RUSM's main campus

1984

In 1984, the university officially changed its name to Ross University School of Medicine.

1985

In 1985, California state medical licensing officials (the Board of Medical Quality Assurance), began investigating RUSM, along with other medical schools located in the Caribbean.

2003

In 2003, Ross University School of Medicine was acquired by Adtalem Global Education.

2013

In 2013, the 10,000th graduate of Ross received their medical degree from the school.

2015

2015: Ross opens the new Student Center, now the feature building on the Dominica campus

2015: Ross beats its previous residency record, with more than 830 graduates earning residency placements during the 2015 MATCH cycle

2017

In October 2017, the university resumed classes aboard the GNV Excellent, an Italian ferry docked off the coast of the island of St Kitts.

In 2017, the school was impacted by Hurricane Maria, when the Category 5 storm made landfall on the island of Dominica.

2018

2018 Ross relocates Basic Sciences campus to temporary locations in Knoxville, TN and St Kitts

2019

2019 Ross relocates Basic Sciences campus to Barbados

Ross University School of Medicine permanently relocated from Dominica to Barbados for the beginning of the 2019 Spring semester due to extensive damage done in Dominica after Hurricane Maria.
