Job Description
Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine (RUSVM) is inviting applications for one Postdoctoral Research Fellowships in Wildlife Health and Conservation, with a focus on sea turtles, shorebirds, and seabirds.
About the Position
This exciting opportunity will involve conducting research on endangered and threatened wildlife species, collecting population and health data, and contributing to management and policy-related initiatives. Current projects span nesting behavior, foraging ecology, disease surveillance, sex ratio assessments, clinical cases, necropsy, and conservation education.
The successful candidate will work with a multidisciplinary supervisory team:
· Dr. Kimberly M. Stewart (RUSVM, SKSTMN, WIDECAST)
· Dr. Karen L. Eckert (WIDECAST)
· Dr. Terry Norton (WIDECAST, SKSTMN, The Turtle Hospital)
· Dr. Scott Rush (Mississippi State University)
Key Responsibilities
· Lead and collaborate on intramural and extramural grant applications.
· Publish at least two manuscripts per year (case report, short communication, or full manuscript).
· Present research at WIDECAST AGM and ISTS annually.
· Supervise and train student volunteers and research elective students (minimum 20 per year).
· Train graduate and veterinary students in field and laboratory techniques
Qualifications

·Willing to relocate to St Kitts with assistance.
- PhD in wildlife management, conservation medicine, or related field.
· Previous research experience with sea turtles and/or seabirds/shorebirds.
· Strong record of research productivity (publications, presentations).
· Ability to work independently and lead projects.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Desirable Skills
· Ability to swim, walk at least five miles on soft sand, and lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
· Proficiency with data management tools (Microsoft Office, EarthRanger, KoboToolbox).
· Flexibility to work nights/early mornings and respond to field emergencies as needed.

Job Description
The Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) Manager plays a vital role in fostering a proactive safety culture across campus. This position provides expert guidance on occupational health, safety, and environmental protection, ensuring compliance with both local and U.S. federal regulations.
The EHS Manager will assess work environments and design programs to control or eliminate risks related to chemical, physical, radiological, biological, ergonomic, and other workplace hazards. Responsibilities include managing environmental programs, conducting risk assessments, and ensuring preparedness for fire safety and emergency response.
This role requires strong knowledge of EHS regulations, standards, and best practices, including those set by OSHA, ASHRAE, ANSI, and other relevant agencies.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct inspections, assessments, and investigations to identify and mitigate safety risks; recommend and oversee corrective actions as needed.
Analyze safety trends and compliance data; prepare detailed reports for senior leadership.
Develop, implement, and maintain internal health and safety policies, procedures, and strategies.
Educate and train faculty, staff, and students on EHS awareness, compliance requirements, and best practices.
Serve as a resource for managers and supervisors in investigating and documenting incidents, accidents, and cases of occupational illness; ensure timely submission of required reports.
Collaborate with the Health and Safety Committee to recommend improvements following incidents or near misses.
Lead or support studies and statistical analyses to identify workplace hazards and evaluate loss potential; compile and present findings and recommendations.
Prepare and deliver clear, audience-appropriate presentations and communications related to EHS topics.
Actively participate in EHS and safety committee meetings, contributing to a continuous improvement culture.

Qualifications
Willingness to reside on the island of St Kitts full-time, relocation provided.

4. Locate, identify and document all false crawls from previous night nesting activity
5. Relocate imperiled nests
6. Excavate nests and assess hatching success
7. Construct and maintain restraining cages as designated by active Marine Turtle Permit
8. Monitor for sea turtle nesting activity in relation to beach re-nourishment projects on Broward
County beaches
9. Assess disorientation events of hatchling marine turtles
10. Collect and enter data related to all aspects of the nesting beach activities and monitoring with an emphasis on accuracy, quality, and efficiency
11. Work on and contribute to collaborative research teams
12. Perform the following major duties that include but are not limited to:
a. Conducting data analysis and computations
b. Collecting/cataloging of field and/or laboratory samples
c. Creating various reports based upon data results
