At Lockheed Martin Rotary and Mission Systems \(RMS\), we understand that sometimes we must pause our professional life to support our family and loved ones\. After stepping away from the workplace to care for children, aging parents or other family obligations, the road to return to work can be challenging, and at times intimidating\. This is where Chapter Next can be part of your solution\.

Chapter Next is a 12\-16 week paid returnship hosted by RMS\. Candidates who have taken a professional career hiatus for at least 2\+ years will be eligible to apply to this program\.

During this returnship participants will become part of a community of similarly experienced professionals with challenging work scopes that contribute to the great innovation produced by Lockheed Martin\! Selected candidates will be exposed to comprehensive training, professional development opportunities, networking opportunities, and individual based mentoring

Our goal is to provide the fundamental tools needed to be successful in your career field, and to potentially prepare you for an opportunity to join Lockheed Martin full\-time\. Fields of focus will be diverse across the program and include functional and technical opportunities\.

This position is for a software engineer that will support the development of flight and maintenance training devices with responsibilities in the design, development, testing, maintenance, and delivery of software for the upcoming Future Long\-Range Assault Aircraft \(FLRAA\) Program that is the future of Rotary aviation\. The selected candidate will work with a multiple\-disciplinary team skilled in aviation simulation development\.
Duties may include:

• Participation in a fast\-paced agile environment

• Contributing to the design, development and testing of simulation components

• Ensuring product and process quality throughout the development life cycle via robust application of best practices in disciplined use of software engineering, source control, and bug tracking; participation in design and process reviews; adherence to robust test regimes using a multi\-layered test approach \(unit tests, automated tests, system testing and integration, etc\.\)

• Collaborating with team members to create robust software components for a simulation environment

• Participation in a fast\-paced agile environment

**Basic Qualifications:**

• Bachelor's degree in software engineering, computer science, computer engineering or related discipline

• Experience with the development life cycle as a software engineer

• Experience in Windows and or Linux/Unix environments

• Experience in C, C\+\+ or C\#

• Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance, therefore, U\.S\. Citizenship is required

**Desired Skills:**

• DIS, HLA or CIGI experience

• Aircraft data bus experience \(1553, Arinc 429\)

• Experience with Real\-Time Systems

• Experience with the Atlassian tool suite \(Jira, Fisheye, Crucible, Bitbucket, Confluence\)

• Experience with virtualization / containerization tools \(Docker, Ansible\)

• Experience with agile methodology

• Pilot, flight, and/or rotary maintenance experience

• Strong verbal and written communication skills

• Perform in a creative, high\-tempo, collaborative, cross\-functional, dynamic and multi\-disciplinary environment

• Experience with simulation and/or game engine development
