Roto-Rooter provides an initial 12 weeks of paid training plus continual training in our plumbing school. You'll earn while you learn the trade, and we'll guide you through the plumber licensing process to help you advance.
Responsibilities
* Roto-Rooter plumbing apprentices/service technicians use their skills to provide solutions to plumbing and drain problems.
* A service call begins with diagnosing problems then providing cost estimates to close the sale.
* Make the necessary repairs for the customer.
* Document estimates and invoices, both in writing and on a provided smart phone.
* Collect payment and move on to the next service call.
Requirements
* A valid driver's license.
* Excellent communications skills.
* A mechanical aptitude is desirable, but prior plumbing experience is not necessary.

YOUR ROLE AS A PLUMBING INSTALLER:
Your typical schedule will be 8 AM to 5 PM, with the potential for overtime. You can expect to work approximately 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, although the schedule is not guaranteed. Weekend work may also be required based on customer needs.
As a Plumbing Installer, you play a vital role in ensuring customers' homes are safe and functional. Your day starts with preparing your equipment for service calls. You respond to various requests, performing installations and repairs, from toilet and faucet replacements to water heater installations. You conduct thorough inspections and diagnostics to identify issues and provide effective solutions while adhering to all compliance standards. You offer clear cost estimates and communicate professionally with customers about repairs and solutions, representing Roto-Rooter with excellence. Necessary fabrication abilities include the use of various shop equipment such as table saws, pipe threading machines, bending machines (power as well as hand operated), drill presses and brazing equipment.
Bends, cuts, threads, shapes, fabricates, and installs pipe according to job specifications.
Conducts pressure test of piping installations. Checks and adjusts controls, gauges, and valves to achieve control of flow or pressure.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Candidate Requirements:
Must have 5+ years of recent experience working in a shipyard as a pipefitter.
Must be able to pass all administered tests prior to being hired for the position.
Experience fitting carbon steel, stainless steel, and copper nickel pipe.
Must possess a good general knowledge of ship repair procedures and test requirements.
Must be able to comprehend instructions, drawings, and general correspondence.
Must be able to read blueprints.
Must have a working knowledge of ship repair terminology and ship compartment naming convention.
Must be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
Must be physically and medically capable to wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE) required for the job as prescribed under OSHA standards. PPE may include hard hat, safety glasses, steel toe shoes, goggles, respirator, safety harness, safety line, flotation gear, etc.
