What will the Driver Manager do?
The driver manager position optimizes the utilization of company resources by managing dedicated Auto Haulers throughout our freight network in service to our customers. Driver Manager is a member of the Day & Ross Operations Team. The role requires driver managers to ensure safe, on-time delivery for various customers, while maximizing the productivity and profitability of an assigned fleet of drivers and trucks. How You'll Help
Ability to Multitask effectively
Ensure driver success through relationship building, effective communication, positive recognition and timely addressing of issues (performance and personal related).
Provide complete load information, including routing and directions to ensure drivers are fully prepared for work assignment.
Assist/coach driver on time management issues, i.e., departure times, driving time management to insure on-time delivery and hours of services compliance.
Assist/coach drivers with on-board ELD system and HOS compliance.
Monitor all on-board ELD message communication.
Maintain accurate and complete files for all records within TMS System - For drivers, trips and customers.
Answer phones and electronic communication from both drivers and customers.
Monitor TMS System software for correct trip information and flow.
Follow all established processes, procedures and protocol.
Maintain compliance with DOT regulations and company rules.
Understand driver pay structure.
Process driver requests for time off according to company policy.
Document any issues or discussions with the driver regarding performance.
Tele-market to develop current and new business opportunities for Day & Ross. Build a portfolio of clients by researching and seeking out prospects via sales calls.
Cultivating existing brokerage customers for new opportunities for continued growth.
Negotiating and arranging for transportation of goods.

What will the Driver Manager do?
The driver manager position optimizes the utilization of company resources by managing dedicated Auto Haulers throughout our freight network in service to our customers. This position is primarily responsible for building and maintaining high quality relationships with drivers, managing driver performance, and providing the necessary support to ensure optimal efficiency.
What knowledge, skills and abilities are required for the Driver Manager role?
Associate or Technical Degree in Logistics, Transportation, Business or related field preferred
Experience in logistics and dispatch, preferably within auto hauling distribution.
Demonstrated experience leading, directing, communicating change and developing a team strongly desired.
Knowledge of transportation enterprise software applications.
Working knowledge of tractor and trailer maintenance.
Solid written and oral skills with a strong ability to work with others
Aptitude to gain further competency in transportation analysis tools
Knowledge of DOT compliance, laws, rules, regulations and safety.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
Knowledge of TMW and PeopleNet a plus.
Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy and completion in preparing and entering information.
Highly organized, proficient in prioritization, attention to detail and possessing a high level of accuracy.
Ability to provide positive reinforcement and possess a positive attitude.
Must possess ability to provide timely follow up to drivers and management.
Comfortable working in a high-stress environment and ability to stay calm under pressure.
Strong interpersonal skills to develop and maintain positive relationships with dispatch team and auto haulers.
Strong communication skills (oral, written and listening) with motivational ability.
Work occasionally requires a high level of mental effort and strain when performing essential duties. Must be able to perform the essential duties of the position with time constraints, interruptions and stressed dispatchers and drivers.
Work may require more than 40 hours per week.
