Lexington Health Network company history timeline

1946

In 1946, money was once again raised by the community for new land and building space for the continued growth of Lexington Memorial Hospital.

1971

When Lexington County Hospital opened in 1971 as a nonprofit hospital, it quickly became a healthcare leader.

1977

By 1977, a full-fledged campaign began and more than $1.5 million was raised by the community toward the total $7.5 million needed to construct the new facility.

1979

Land in the heart of Lexington was purchased and construction began for a one-story 100-bed facility that was completed in September 1979.

1987

Royal T Management began operations on July 1, 1987 and was incorporated December 17, 1987.

1990

The company quickly grew from approximately 1,000 units in Fresno to more than 3,000 units by January 1, 1990, and expanded its territory to Merced, Madera and Bakersfield.

2020

With the decline of births in the county, the medical center closed its Labor and Delivery department in April 2020 and now encourages all patients to deliver at The Birth Center at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.
