We are looking for Construction Site Safety Officer (SSHO) candidates to join our Southeast US team for military projects located in the Jacksonville, Pensacola, or Saint Mary's, GA areas.
Our Site Safety Officers (SSHO)'s are responsible for planning, preparing, organizing, implementing, and executing all safety administrative and performance requirements for an assigned project in accordance with contract specifications, EM-385, OSHA, RQ internal Safety Management System, and Accident Prevention Plan (APP), while fully integrating with the project team to support the safe production of quality work. This position may provide oversight to daily activities for assigned direct reports. Local candidates will be given preference depending on location of project, though relocation or travel to on-site management will be required for the SSHO position. The SSHO position must work on-site.
Pay: $90,000-$125,000 annually (depends on experience)

Ideal Candidates will have the following experience:
* A combination of equivalent work experience, training in the field, and/or Occupational Safety and Health certificate programs through the OSHA Training Institutes or other national recognized safety training organization (whether certificates or degree programs), professional certifications such as CHST, OHST, and ASP through BCSP may be qualifying.
* Five or more years applied work experience (or equivalent) in commercial construction industry required, with five or more years' experience (or equivalent) in construction safety management at the jobsite level.
* Competent person training or experience in Fall Protection, Confined Space, Electrical, Trenching/Excavation, PPE and Scaffolding required. Other related professional degrees or certificates desired and will be considered "in lieu of" competent person training.
* Five or more consecutive years of documented safety training, averaging 24 hours per year required.
* Previous experience with NAVFAC, USACE clients and EM385-1-1 preferred.
* Computer literacy (Microsoft Office, Outlook, Internet, etc.) required.
* Specific software literacy (Viewpoint, RMS/QCS) preferred.
* Current CPR, First Aid, and OSHA 30-hour (within past 5 years) certifications required.

Thoroughly investigate all incidents (including near miss, injury, property damage, general liability) immediately and perform root cause analysis.
Procure Cal/OSHA project permits for assigned projects.
Ensure all safety paperwork is completed for assigned projects.
Coach tradespeople, junior safety members, and project team.

Conduct thorough incident investigations (including near misses) and make recommendations for corrective action. Complete root cause analysis for all incidents occurring on assigned projects.
Participate in jobsite subcontractor coordination meetings and jobsite safety meetings.
Create daily, weekly, and monthly safety reports.
Serve as liaison to medical personnel, ensuring protocols and reporting best practices are followed. Follow-up with injured worker until released back to full duty or otherwise directed by EHS Manager.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist project teams in identifying hazards and implementing controls.
Immediately address safety violations at jobsite(s).
Assist project Superintendents to establish, implement, and monitor jobsite emergency action plans.
Ensure subcontractors are working within the parameters of the Nibbi EHS program and/or Cal/OSHA regulations.
Work with Superintendents and Project Managers to obtain and manage required safety documents, signage, and equipment for all assigned jobsites.
Verify all workers have the necessary training for the tasks they are performing.
Represent Nibbi during Cal/OSHA visits, including insurance investigations and jobsite inspections.
Conduct thorough incident investigations (including near misses) and make recommendations for corrective action. Complete root cause analysis for all incidents occurring on assigned projects.
Participate in jobsite subcontractor coordination meetings and jobsite safety meetings.
Create daily, weekly, and monthly safety reports.
Serve as liaison to medical personnel, ensuring protocols and reporting best practices are followed. Follow-up with injured worker until released back to full duty or otherwise directed by EHS Manager.
Assist in the development of the project safety program.
Assist in the coordination of training for field personnel.
Other related duties as assigned or needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
Safety professional with 5 years' experience in construction preferred, but willing to consider a candidate with the right combination of construction experience and safety education. Candidates should have a strong understanding and knowledge of the construction industry and jobsite safety requirements, including health and safety hazards, and hazard control. Key competencies are communication (written and verbal), teamwork, initiative, and dependability.
Technical Skills: MS Office Suite, Outlook, ProCore. Construction Health Safety Technician (CHST) certification preferred.

This position works with the Superintendent and Project Manager to administer, direct, and implement compliance with Berkel corporate safety policy and to ensure the achievement of company standard operating practices and safety planning goals. Our Field Safety Specialists are responsible for overall safety procedures on multiple project sites within their regional sectors.
Responsibilities:
Create, communicate, enforce, and identify opportunities for improvements in Site Specific Safety Program
Maintain all administrative tasks related to project specific safety binders and filing systems
Coordinate, schedule, and facilitate all subcontractors pre-construction safety planning meetings, acting as a resource for field operations with compliance on federal (OSHA) and state as well as local safety and health regulations including NFPA and JCAHO standards
Review all Site-Specific Safety Programs and Job Hazard Analysis prior to mobilization
Conduct regularly scheduled site evaluations, follow up and tracking of corrections and deficiencies
Periodically attend and monitor Tool Box Talks conducted by employees to assure documentation and quality
Perform root cause and accident investigation techniques in the event of a job site accident - including collection of Berkel safety standard incident reporting forms and documentation working closely with our Risk Manager
Active coordination with Risk Manager for identification of Claims trends and proactive risk management planning
Enforce documentation from all staff on the proper training of their employees as related to their scope of work

Job Requirements:
