RQAW is in search of an experienced Construction Project Engineer/Manager to join our growing Construction Services Department team in Central Indiana. The individual selected for this position will engage in all aspects of construction project administrative oversight and management for transportation projects. The individual will also be responsible for managing and mentoring Inspectors, Project Supervisors, and Project Engineers who support transportation projects in Central Indiana.
Position Duties & Responsibilities:
Directly supervise and lead a team of Inspectors, Project Supervisors, and Project Engineers
Assist in the hiring and development of high-level inspection staff
Forecast monthly billing projections for assigned projects
Approve timesheets and expense reports, approve monthly billing invoices, and provide annual performance evaluations for assigned staff to aid in their professional development
Perform daily oversight and management of assigned construction projects
Provide thorough and accurate project documentation in a timely manner consistent with client and company expectations
Promote safety on all assigned projects
Lead project progress meetings with contractors, designers, client/owner representatives, and project stakeholders
Proactively advance construction projects to successful delivery with a continuous focus and emphasis on project budget, schedule, quality, and safety
Professionally communicate with contractors and owner/client representatives
Prioritize and represent the client/owner best interests
Perform other duties as required and assigned
Requirements
10+ years of experience working on INDOT transportation projects with 5+ years in administering and overseeing DOT transportation construction contracts in a role of Project Engineer or Project Manager
Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited program
Licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Indiana
Strong understanding of INDOT Standard Specifications, Standard Drawings, construction material sampling/testing procedures, and general construction contract oversight and inspection procedures
Strong understanding of quality transportation construction practices in embankment construction, drainage structure installation, subgrade construction, asphalt and concrete pavement construction, BMPs for stormwater management and environmental compliance, structure foundation construction, bridge construction, and maintenance of traffic installations
Proficient in use of SiteManager in diary, daily work record, and material record development
Proficient in project documentation and final construction record development
Effective problem solver, decision maker, and staff manager
Strong ability to professionally communicate, both verbal and written, with construction contractors, clients/owners, and project stakeholders
Ability and willingness to work extended hours and varying work schedules as project assignments dictate
