I liked the physical and mental challenge of producing state of the art print material for top tier clientele. The Press was an amazing feat of engineering, highly sophisticated , called a prototype because when assembled, was the largest ( longest) sheet press in the 40 inch format in the world, with 14 units, 12 UV printing units and 2 coaters which had aqueous and UV capability. Some of the material printed was dazzling.
I do not like that the division, Hennegan was shut down. I believe inflation was a major factor. An additional factor was a very significant amount of scheduled work was cancelled due to Covid19. This made planned progress toward refurbishment of key equipment impossible. Till then the future looked bright. Some people did not like the demands of deadlines, requiring over-time hours often. Though difficult at times, I did not mind that as much.
It was fun to produce such high quality work. It was fun to have gained a lot of general knowledge over the years, and work with people who were not only peers in the industry, very dedicated and skilled, but also very decent and admirable on a personal level. It was a hard job sometimes, but a fulfilling challenge.
