RSM US company history timeline

1937

After 10 years of operation, George Hansen and Keith Dunn were admitted as partners, and in 1937 the firm changed its name to McGladrey, Hansen, Dunn & Company.

1952

Ira McGladrey, a leader in the public accounting profession at both the state and national levels, stayed active in the firm until his death in 1952.

1966

During the next 40 years, the firm expanded into 29 offices in eight states and in 1966 began offering consulting services.

1978

In November 1978, the firm merged with Broeker Hendrickson & Company to become McGladrey Hendrickson & Company.

1987

For simplicity's sake, the firm changed its name to McGladrey & Pullen in 1987.

1999

In the summer of 1999, McGladrey sold its non-attest assets and business to H&R Block Inc.

2005

In 2005 The firm acquired American Express Tax and Business Services, which doubled the size of the firm.

2010

In 2010 The firm became the title sponsor for the McGladrey Classic, a PGA Tour event.

2011

In 2011 McGladrey & Pullen purchased RSM McGladrey from H&R Block, reuniting the two firms as a leading partner-owned provider of assurance, tax and consulting services focused on the middle market.

2013

In 2013 The firm announced the relocation of its headquarters to Chicago.

2014

In 2014 The firm established the RSM US Foundation, a tax-exempt public charity dedicated to building tomorrow's middle market leaders.

2016

In 2016 The firm celebrated its 90th anniversary of serving the middle market.

2017

In 2017 The firm joined the United States Chamber of Commerce to announce a new partnership dedicated to increasing awareness of the business and economic issues affecting the middle market.
