Senior Consultant - Forensics The Colony, TX The Senior Consultant plans and coordinates activities of designated projects to ensure that goals or objectives of the project are accomplished within the designated time frame and proposed cost either personally or through the management and mentorship of the project team. The Senior Consultant is responsible for identifying, planning, directing, and overseeing all aspects of Building Science and/or Rehabilitation projects. This role will be primarily responsible for responding to client requests regarding new projects, conducting or overseeing existing building projects to determine solutions to address the client's requests, oversight, and development of construction documents, including architectural/structural engineering drawings, specifications, and bid documents, and construction administration, while providing technical review, mentorship, and training to designers and technicians. The Senior Consultant acts as a technical liaison on matters pertaining to the field of practice; applies advanced techniques, modifications, and theories. Performs with little guidance or oversight and a high degree of discretion and judgement. TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES The duties listed below are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work that may be performed in this position. EVALUATE: Prepare and present reports and presentations of findings that document the existing conditions and extent of. damage/defect and provide a rough magnitude of repair for the existing condition. Permit and code review. Peer review reports of findings for direct reports/peers. DESIGN: Communicate complicated design ideas through multiple formats, including hand sketching, to better coordinate team efforts and communicate the client's desired outcomes. Coordinate with internal designers, drafters, engineers, and consultants for preparation of construction drawings, specifications, and bid documents. Conduct drawing, detail, and specification reviews throughout the design process. Review shop drawings and submittals for conformance with the design intent, performance with respect to the various building science and engineering principles, and for any scheduling of work issues. Perform cursory calculations of repair and/or code upgrade. OVERSEE: Provide oversight of technicians and specialists performing field review, including technical and directional advice. Review report of findings resulting from an onsite investigation and/or document review. Assume full managerial responsibility for all aspects of the project: scope, schedule, design, quality, staff, and execution. Act as Engineer of Record to sign/seal repair drawings and/or reports of findings. COMMUNICATION: Act as a trusted advisor to Clients and prospective Clients; own and develop the Client relationship; actively partner with the Business Development team to grow client relationships. Explore opportunities to enhance service with or upsell existing clients/projects. Proactively keep clients and stakeholders informed of project status and changes. Establish industry reputation and market to new clients. TRACKING: Perform project tracking and quality control, including regular project status reviews of actual vs. planned, facilitating project status and design review meetings internally and with the client; take appropriate actions to address variance. from the project plan; follow standardized procedures for processes/procedures. The OSM Project Engineer supports the planning, coordination, and execution of offsite manufacturing (OSM) scopes, working directly with the OSM Project Leads. This position is highly involved in the daily details of the job, balancing desk-based coordination and technical tasks with frequent field walks. The Junior Site/Civil Engineer will be a key member of the Bryant Engineering Team in our Louisville, KY office, where he/she will perform design calculations, analysis and plan preparation and utilizing graphic software in support of the successful completion of assigned projects for a wide range of public and private sector clients. JOB DESCRIPTION: The Junior Site/Civil Engineer will assist Project Manager with the planning and design of assigned projects that meet technical requirements and are delivered on time and within budget. RESPONSIBILITIES: (OTHER DUTIES MAY BE ASSIGNED) Work on design teams in all aspects of given project to develop detailed design documents for construction plans that meet client specs and exceed client expectations Perform quantity estimates, detailing and check calculations and develop design drawings Conduct code research and write specifications Supports Project Manager on other tasks as assigned/needed REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES: Excellent written and verbal communication skills Detail oriented Ability to work on multiple project assignments concurrently Problem Solver Works in a timely fashion to meet project budgets and deadlines Desire to work in a team environment EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE BS in Civil Engineering 1-2 years of experience preferred Previous experience working in a consulting engineering environment a plus Successful passing of the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam (E.I.T.) a plus COMPUTER SKILLS Proficient in AutoCad Civil 3D Proficient in Microstation and OpenRoads Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES N/A TRAVEL: Travel to job sites and client meetings as required thru out the state.
