Russell Investments is seeking a Principal Enterprise Data & Analytics Architect to join our Enterprise Data Office (EDO) within the Technology organization. The EDO functions as a horizontal capability, enabling enterprise data architecture, governance, engineering, and analytics enablement across all lines of business. Key Responsibilities
Enterprise & Solution Architecture

Master Data Management (MDM) & Data Governance

• Integrate data quality, metadata, and lineage frameworks within all architectural designs.
• Partner with governance and stewardship teams to enforce data ownership, classification, and privacy controls.

Cloud Modernization & Migration
• Lead cloud migration initiatives for legacy data platforms (SQL Server, Oracle, and other on-prem systems) to modern cloud environments.
• Define migration patterns, cut-over strategies, and hybrid data access architectures.
• Partner with infrastructure and DevOps teams to implement CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure-as-Code, and automated provisioning for data platforms.
• Ensure designs address scalability, security, cost optimization, and resiliency.
Legacy Systems Integration
• Maintain deep familiarity with legacy database technologies, particularly Microsoft SQL Server, and design hybrid patterns that enable interoperability with modern cloud solutions.
• Provide guidance on data extraction, replication, and real-time synchronization between legacy and cloud systems.
• Serve as a subject-matter expert in SQL Server architecture, performance tuning, and optimization as part of the broader modernization roadmap.
Emerging Technologies & AI/ML Enablement
• Architect AI/ML-ready data environments by ensuring pipelines and models support feature engineering, versioning, and reproducibility.
• Collaborate with data scientists and ML engineers to define data provisioning, model training, and inferencing pipelines integrated into enterprise data architecture.
• Define data lineage, observability, and quality frameworks that ensure trust in
AI/ML outputs.

Cross-Domain Solution Delivery

Qualifications

This role is part of our Asset Allocation and Investment Solutions team, which oversees strategic asset allocation, CMA forecasting, investment solution design, and management of Model Strategies offered to U.S. retail investors. Your Core Responsibilities:
Solution design
Design and development of multi-asset solutions with a focus on lifecycle finance and tax managed solutions.
Research and consult on investment approaches for single asset classes, translating these needs into objectives and solutions.
Collaborate with clients to understand their needs. Use this information to design solutions, ensuring components work together to fulfill client objectives.
Provide thought leadership

Your Expertise and Role Qualifications:
5-7 years of experience in a capital markets finance role.
Proficiency in running quantitative analyses in object-oriented programming languages (e.g., C++/C# and Python).
Strong understanding of object-oriented programming and ability to construct models.
Familiarity with optimization-based and Monte Carlo approaches to asset allocation analysis.
Ability to think clearly about complex problems and find pragmatic solutions
Solid foundation in capital markets finance.
Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously.
Preferred:
CFA, PH.D. or Masters degree in finance, economics or quantitative discipline such as mathematics, statistics, or operations research.
Knowledge and experience in the investment industry, particularly in solution building for accumulation, retirement income, and tax-managed investing.
Familiarity with: portfolio construction, factor modeling, risk and return attribution, asset return forecasting, portfolio optimization, basic actuarial math, Monte Carlo simulation and lifecycle finance.
Ability to present results to audiences with varied technical backgrounds, including team members, sales organization members, and advisors.
Strong and effective writing skills.
