Key Responsibilities
Analyze plans, specifications, and geotechnical reports to complete competitive project estimates.

What You Bring:
3+ years of estimating experience in commercial HVAC and/or plumbing required.
Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, ductwork, piping, and construction drawings.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and specifications.
Proficiency with estimating software (e.g., Trimble, Bluebeam, FastPIPE/FastDUCT, or similar).

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Senior Project Estimator to join our high-voltage EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) team. Reporting directly to the Lead Estimator, this role is responsible for independently developing detailed, competitive proposals for complex electrical infrastructure projects, including renewable energy, substations, distribution, and industrial applications.
This position requires a strong technical foundation, deep understanding of construction estimating principles, and the ability to collaborate across engineering, procurement, and project delivery teams. While this role does not have direct reports, the Senior Estimator will provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior team members and will play a key role in ensuring proposal quality, cost accuracy, and pre-award strategy.
Key Responsibilities
Analyze RFP packages to determine project scope, contractual obligations, commercial requirements, and potential risks.
Prepare detailed EPC cost estimates across multiple disciplines for high-voltage electrical projects (renewables, substations, generation, and industrial).
Lead the development of complete proposal submissions, including:
Execution plans and cost breakdowns
Project schedules (MS Project or Primavera)
Risk registers and mitigation strategies
Alternate pricing and construction methodologies
Environmental, Safety, Quality, and ITP plans
Executive-level summaries
Conduct site visits to assess constructability and gather field data.
Review design documentation (drawings, specifications, DBMs) and identify scope gaps or discrepancies.
Collaborate with subcontractors, vendors, and consultants to validate pricing inputs and support proposal accuracy.
Maintain comprehensive records of estimate assumptions, methodologies, and source data.
Lead internal estimate reviews, presenting detailed justifications to leadership and project teams.
Support pre-award strategy development including value engineering, risk analysis, and cost optimization.
Provide mentorship and peer review to junior estimators; contribute to team development and knowledge sharing.
Assist in refining internal estimating tools, templates, and standardized practices.
Facilitate project handover meetings with the Project Management team upon award.
Support change order preparation, scope clarification, and project closeout reviews.
Qualifications & Experience
Post-secondary education in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (preferred).
Journeyman Electrician or Power Systems Electrician certification is a strong asset.
Minimum 7 years of experience in electrical estimating within the utility or EPC sectors.
Proven background in estimating renewable, substation, and high-voltage distribution projects.
Strong knowledge of construction labor productivity, equipment capabilities, and market rates.
Proficient in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and technical documentation.
Advanced user of estimating software (e.g., Hard Dollar or similar).
Skilled in project scheduling tools (Microsoft Project and/or Primavera).
Proficient in Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, and document control systems (e.g., SharePoint).
Ability to manage complete takeoffs, cost validations, and proposal compilation independently.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interface effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Comfortable engaging directly with vendors, clients, and subcontractors during the estimating phase.
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple concurrent priorities.
