Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, is seeking a MentalHealth Specialist II in the 988 Lifeline Services - 988 Chat & Text Backup of Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care.
The MentalHealth Specialist II performs functions in support of the Unit's mission providing streamlined, prompt, and "customer friendly" services to clients of the 988 Lifeline Services. Receives telephone, chat and/or text requests for service, undertakes assessment of the service need of the client and responds by offering support and appropriate referrals or disposition. Demonstrates competency in recognizing the unique needs of clients and applying relevant assessment and support skills with regard to a wide range of issues.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
* Interacts with client in a therapeutic manner.
* Models for clients' good communication skills, recovery-oriented living skills, effective coping skills, and self-help strategies as observed by supervisor and as indicated by feedback from clients and team members.
* Assists clients in identifying their personal recovery goals, assists in setting objectives for each goal, and determines interventions to be used based on the client's recovery/life goals.
* Develops and maintains a relationship with clients so that they can identify emotional, psychiatric or behavioral changes which may require further intervention or treatment. Essential Duties Include:

Accurate and timely documentation of all clinical services

Essential Duties:
Conduct intake interviews and assessments, create and implement treatment and behavioral plans.
Utilize evidenced based interventions to conduct weekly therapy sessions which support client/family treatment plan goal achievement.
Utilize electronic health record software to create and maintain updated and accurate client files including intake, progress, treatment, discharge and other notes, forms and documents as required by RBAYMCA and partnering organizations.
Work in collaboration with an interdisciplinary team to assist individuals and families managing mentalhealth, emotional and behavioral challenges.
Establish and maintain partnerships with client and family wraparound/interdisciplinary team (i.e., PCP, psychiatrist, school, care manager etc.) and respond to client, family and stakeholder' requests/communications in a timely manner.
Engage in ethical discharge and transition of clients supporting their connection to natural and community resources and supports.
Engage in supervision/consultation as required/needed based on licensure level and RBAYMCA Protocol.
Be knowledgeable of, follow and maintain ethical guidelines and practices.

At least 2 years professional experience in mentalhealth field is required. The successful candidate must be effective functioning in a fast-paced, team-oriented, inclusive, and high accountability environment. This position also requires excellent knowledge of the field and the ability to clinically assess, evaluate, and refer students to on and off-campus resources. POSITION EFFECTIVE: The position will remain open until filled.
SALARY & BENEFITS: The starting salary is $75,170. Additional compensation with seniority steps maximize at a salary of $88,234. Benefits include comprehensive health coverage, a choice of defined benefit or defined contribution pension plan, generous leave benefits, and access to tax sheltered annuities and a deferred compensation plan.
