Job Overview:
Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center (CBMC) of the RWJBarnabas Health System (RWJBH) is presently recruiting for a Medical Physicist to join our radiation oncology team. The successful candidate will join the brand new Melchiorre Cancer Center.
CBMC is a 577-bed non-profit major teaching hospital located in Livingston, NJ. It is the oldest and largest nonprofit, nonsectarian hospital in New Jersey. CBMC is located in a top school district in NJ and is a 35-minute train ride to Manhattan.
The spectrum of radiotherapy procedures provided at CBMC includes IMRT/VMAT, IGRT, SRS and SBRT, HDR Brachytherapy applications, and other procedures, such as Sir-Sphere, Xofigo, Lutathera, Pluvicto, and GammaTile. Equipment includes Varian Halcyon, Varian Truebeam, Elekta infinity with Agility MLC, Cyberknife M6, and Elekta Microselectron afterloader; Treatment planning systems includes Eclipse, Oncentra and Precision; EMR include Aria and Mosaiq.
The radiation oncology department will be moving to the newly constructed Melchiorre Cancer Center located on the CBMC Campus at the end of 2025. This state-of-the-art facility will allow candidates to work on the most cutting-edge technology available, including an Elekta Unity MRLinac with Monaco treatment planning, two Varian TrueBeams, two CT Simulators, and an Elekta Flexitron afterloader. A full suite of new state-of-the-art QA equipment to support the new department will be available.
The CBMC Radiation Oncology department is an active site for residency rotations for the Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School/Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey Medical Physicist Training Program, as well as for Medical Residents. Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center also has a School of Radiation Therapy.

* An MS or PhD degree in Medical Physics or related field with the appropriate clinical training is required.
* Board eligible candidates must have successfully completed training in a medical physics residency, and will be expected to pass all sections of the certification process in a timely manner. If applicable, MOC (maintenance of certification) is required.
* Experience with conformal radiotherapy, 3-D and IMRT treatment planning systems, and high dose rate brachytherapy is required.

This is a unique opportunity to lead a collaborative, multidisciplinary program that spans clinical care, education, and research in a highly dynamic academic and hospital environment. The ideal candidate is a board‑certified or board‑eligible neurologist with strong interests in neuromuscular disorders, clinical research, and teaching.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Oversight:
Serve as Division Chief of Neuromuscular Disorders and supervise division faculty.
Direct the MDA‑designated ALS Center of Excellence and the Electromyography (EMG) Laboratory at RWJUH‑New Brunswick.
Guide program development and faculty mentoring within the division.
Clinical Excellence:
Provide patient care for neuromuscular disorders in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
Perform electrodiagnostic testing (EMG/NCS) in multiple care environments.
Participate in consult services and the general neurology clinic, including satellite sites as needed.
Take part in night and weekend call schedules.
Academic & Educational Engagement:
Teaching and mentoring neurology residents and fellows.
Lecturing and supervising medical students in pre‑clinical and clinical settings.
Participating in resident clinic and small‑group seminars.
Contribute meaningfully to the department's academic mission.
Collaborate in administrative activities, departmental meetings, and strategic planning.
Research & Community Involvement:
Engage in ongoing clinical neuromuscular research initiatives.
Provide neurological care to underserved populations.
Represent the department in community education programs related to neurological health.
Qualifications
MD or DO with Board Certification/Eligibility in Neurology.
Fellowship training in Neuromuscular Disorders.
NJ licensed or eligible for licensure.
