The PatientAccessRepresentative is responsible for coordinating and facilitating registrations and admissions by obtaining pertinent demographic, financial and insurance information on all patients. The PatientAccessRepresentative ensures timely registration and promotes patient satisfaction.
Qualifications:

Scheduling Requirements:

Essential Functions:
* Provides excellent customer service to all patients, colleagues and other external and internal customers
* Interviews patients, family members and other responsible parties to gather pertinent demographic and financial information, for scheduling , pre-registration and/or registration based on assigned work
* Obtains and accurately documents all demographic information
* Obtains insurance information and initiates the verification process via third party clearinghouse
* Completes verification of coverage of all insurances and financial clearance activity has been completed
* Meets and exceeds department goals including accuracy, point of service collections and productivity
* Ensures all required forms are provided, reviewed, properly explained and signed by the patient or an approved person on behalf of the patient
* Informs patient of financial responsibility and collects appropriate dollar amount for services to be rendered; issue receipt and completes daily reconciliation of all cash collections
* Provide back-up support to hospital cashier and complete cashier functions, as assigned
* Completes Medicare Questionnaire on all patients that are eligible
* Responsible to review all work queues daily and take the required actions to update the information, correct errors and ensure that the account is accurate for billing
* Responsible to place patients in the appropriate bed and maintain the accuracy of the bed board system by tracking bed assignments through bed tracking system and to ensure timely and appropriate movement of patients within the hospital; as assigned
* Demonstrates proficiency in the entire pre-admission, registration, and financial clearance processes
* Demonstrates a high level of efficiency, accuracy and productivity
* Verifies accuracy of patient demographic information to avoid duplicating a medical record
* Follows department procedures when a duplicate medical record assignment is made
* Complies with organizational policies on Advance Directives and Patient Rights
* Provides patients with all regulatory documents, obtain required signatures, and witnesses all patients signatures
* Maintains department productivity by asking for additional duties when patient flow permits
* Makes customer needs a priority,

Job Overview:
Maintains current knowledge of financial assistance guidelines. Attends state meeting related to the uninsured, track changes to existing state and federal medical assistance programs and consistently look for opportunities to reduce bad debt write-offs.
Qualifications:
Required:
* 2-3 years experience in a hospital patient registration setting
* 2-3 years experience in a doctor's office, handling patients scheduling, obtaining pre-certifications, authorizations and referrals
* 2-3 years in a patient services environment (billing/collections-must have a working knowledge of more than one provider such as Medicare, Medicaid, HMO's and others

Essential Functions:
* Provides and promotes professional, efficient and congenial customer service thru all communication and interaction with patients, clients, guests and co-workers
* Receives a copy of face sheet, patient I.D., insurance cards, copies of electronic and address responses to audit the registrations of the uninsured patients and reviews eligibility for financial assistance. Refers those eligible for Medicaid as appropriate
* Verifies benefits, obtains pre-certification / pre-authorization or referrals as needed
* Notifies patients of any pre-requisites such as notification to insurance provider required by their insurance
* Notifies patients of any pre-requisites such as notification to insurance provider required by their insurance plan
* Estimates an approximate balance of services explains rates, charges, services, discounts contracts and hospital policy regarding payment of bills to patients/ families
* Ensures we obtain signatures including presumptive eligibility forms
* Checks the ADT system for previous accounts informing patients of account balances
* Collects patient payments to include deposits, co pays or deductibles. Follows cashiers guidelines for receipts, lock box and reconciliation of monies received
* Enters notes in the patient record recording pertinent information for those who will follow up on accounts. Notes to include dates and times of interviews, amount requested and patient comments
* Assists the supervisor/manager in the quality monitoring process examining whether the registration data fields are accurate and complete and if not complete, whether the reason is stated in the notes section
* Interviews/registers patients and/or customers assuring accuracy of information and verifying any previous encounters in the system.
* Registers the patients into the computer to create and encounter with a patient account number and enter information onto a daily admission sheet for daily and monthly statistics
* Makes copies of all insurance cards (front and back) upon registration and distributes them to assigned department
* Inputs/update all Advance Directive information that all fields are answered and Advance Directive is channeled through all the proper areas
* Puts together patients charts and account folders for all scheduled procedures and admissions
* Follows downtime procedures when the computer system is down or on standby and notifies the Systems Coordinator
* Answers the telephone within three (3) rings and responds to requests in a timely manner; identifies self and the location the caller has reached always remembering to ask "How may I help you?"

Essential Functions:
* Duties include but are not limited to:
* Rounding in patient care areas
* Addressing opportunities to provide a high level of service in real-time
* Performing post-discharge follow-up calls
* Management of complaints/grievances
* Providing support for staff development
* Assisting with promoting language service utilization.
* Role will require coverage of Emergency Department during designated shift hours, as well as assisting with inpatient unit round coverage.

Qualifications:
Required:
* Knowledge of medical technology helpful
* Good typing and computer skills a must
Preferred:
* Fluent in Spanish strongly preferred
* High School Diploma preferred
* At least 1 year experience preferred
Scheduling Requirements:
* Shift- 7:00am-8:00pm
* Monday - Friday with every other weekend/holiday
* Full Time/Day
Essential Functions:
* Experience in a hospital patient registration setting, doctors' office, handling patients scheduling, obtaining pre-certifications, authorizations and referrals or patient services environment strongly preferred;
* Previous experience in a census management, assigning beds, position
* Previous experience in a patient services environment billing/collections-must have a working knowledge of more than one provider such as Medicare, Medicaid, HMOs and others
* Experience in completing medical assistance application, family care, PEs, PAICs or charity care, helpful
* Experience in a customer service related environment preferred
* Well developed interpersonal skills with the ability to understand and communicate with persons of varying acuities
* Must be able to work with the public and maintain poise under difficult situations at all times
