Job Overview:
The RWJBH SecurityOfficer ensures a safe and secure environment for all patients, visitors, and staff with blend of vigilance and compassionate service, you will be part of a team that represents the Organization using a positive attitude when on duty in all interactions. The officer balances the demands of security protocols with understanding and respect for those in the healthcare setting. This role is central in upholding our commitment to safety, customer service, and supportive care embodied by our mission to compassionately protect and help the people, property, and quality of our health system, together.
Qualifications:
Required:
* High School Diploma or GED required
* Possession of a valid New Jersey Driver's License with eligibility to be covered by RWJBH insurance carrier.
* Ability to acquire certification for de-escalation training within ninety (90) days of hire.
Preferred:
* A minimum of one (1) year of customer service, security experience, or prior military service preferred.
* Proficiency in keyboarding/data entry and experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
* Strong command over verbal and written communication.
* Bilingual language skills to effectively communicate with a multilingual community preferred but not required. (e.g., Spanish, Portuguese, Polish depending on facility needs.)
Scheduling Requirements

Essential Functions:
* Conduct patrols and monitor facilities to maintain a secure environment for healthcare operations, adapting to indoor and outdoor posts as required.
* Provide professional customer service while vigilantly watching for and addressing potential security threats.
* Manage access control systems, perform data entry, and utilize Microsoft Office for incident reporting and administrative tasks.
* Demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication abilities to effectively engage with a diverse population.
* Perform weapon screening and enforce facility policies, ensuring adherence to safety standards.
* Respond to emergencies, participating in crisis de-escalation using certified training techniques.

Schedule: Sunday through Thursday 12am to 6am
Essential Functions:
Patrols facility or man post and serve as a security presence and visible deterrent on construction site
Conducts periodic grounds check
Detects suspicious activities at or near assigned post which may be a threat to the property
Responds to emergencies in an orderly manner utilizing proper training and follow all SOPs
Education and Experience:

Routinely do security check at the OTP clinic.
Check exterior lighting during pre-dawn shift hours for security reasons.
Monitor Center parking areas for safety and compliance with parking policies and rules.
Monitor fire extinguisher tags monthly as necessary.
Complete emergency lighting testing monthly as necessary.
Escort patients and staff as necessary.
Communicate with supervisor and/or other security staff regarding safety violations and potential problems.
Attend staff and other meetings as assigned.
Participate in training activities as assigned or approved.
Meet regularly with supervisor to exchange pertinent information and receive supervision.
Maintain positive communication with patients, clients, visitors, and staff.
Enforce the various security policies.
Assist with training of new security staff.
Complete Waived testing on patients/consumers as necessary.
Complete Breathalyzer testing on patients/consumers as necessary.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications/Requirements
High School Diploma or GED.
Knowledge and skills in basic safety/security principles, general Center resources and information, English language, oral and written communication, and time management.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Valid driver's license in accordance with HCI motor vehicle policy.
Obtain and maintain current CPI certification.
Obtain and maintain current American Red Cross CPR/First Aid certification.
