Key Responsibilities
Underwriting & Portfolio Management
Report to Chief Underwriting Officer.
Oversee underwriting strategy and workflows for structured casualty opportunities, including casualty program business.
Lead development and implementation of casualty coverage strategy, forms, and pricing concepts.
Lead the underwriting and development of bespoke structured casualty solutions for complex risks, focusing on profitable growth and long-term sustainability.
Together with casualty underwriting team, evaluate, select, and price risks, and develop solutions utilizing structuring techniques while ensuring compliance with underwriting guidelines, carrier standards, and legal and regulatory requirements.
Manage portfolio retention, renewal strategies, and active monitoring of complex property and casualty accounts, focusing on portfolio growth that balances with risk assumption metrics.
Manage team activity to assure timely review of submissions with casualty team, delivery comprehensive and well-crafted underwriting proposals, and delivery of insurance or captive reinsurance documentation, including rate, quote, and bind processing, premium management, and delivery of policies and endorsements.
Lead development and rollout of new traditional and structured casualty risk products, as well as developments of existing underwriting methodology, forms, and structures.
Risk Assessment & Structuring
Lead comprehensive risk assessments focusing on client's risk, including coverage, exposure, safety features, and industry.
Oversee casualty team underwriting activities to assure that individual and group standards are consistently achieved.
Determine and implement appropriate insurance and captive reinsurance structures, including setting of limits, premiums, and terms for structured casualty solutions.
Lead negotiations of bespoke terms and conditions with brokers while identifying cross-selling opportunities.
Analyze, report on, and help manage risk portfolio.
Optimize available data to assist in development of strategies and pricing for different risk structures and product types and adjust underwriting strategies accordingly with senior underwriting leadership.
Market & Client Development
Build and maintain long-term professional relationships with brokers, carriers, captive managers, and corporate clients, while enabling casualty underwriting team to similarly manage such relathionships.
Coordinate industry events, and Represent the company and affiliates at industry event.
Understand emerging market trends and regulatory developments and incorporate recommended and required changes into company processes together company leadership.
Develop strategic initiatives to secure new business opportunities and assure renewals to expand the structured casualty portfolio while assuring profitability of the casualty portfolio.
Leadership & Collaboration
Provide mentorship and training to underwriters, ensuring technical excellence, adherence to goals and guidelines, and effective use of systems.
Partner with internal teams to optimize processes, integrate new risk solution concepts, technologies, and align departmental goals with global business objectives.
Set premium forecasts and budgets, assist in management performance reporting.
Qualifications
This position requires a proven market leader with deep technical expertise in casualty underwriting and structured insurance solutions. The successful candidate will combine strategic vision with hands-on underwriting acumen, ensuring the company continues to deliver innovative risk transfer solutions to leading corporate and institutional clients worldwide. This position also requires a candidate with strong management and leadership skills.
Experience: Minimum 8 years of property & casualty underwriting, with significant exposure to complex/structured solutions.
Education: Bachelor's degree required (Risk Management, Actuarial Science, or Business Administration preferred). Equivalent experience considered.
Licensing:
Required: State P&C and/or surplus lines licenses.
Preferred: CPCU, CIC, or equivalent advanced certifications.

* Receives and properly handles claims from inception or transfer; reviews notice of loss to determine proper coverage, establish and maintain proper reserves.
* Determines proper claim reserves to assure the exposure is properly reserved for.

* Assists supervisor on special projects. Assigns new files in the absence of supervisor and field questions.
* Participates in court-ordered mediations. Appears/travels for settlement trips and court appearances, when required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
* Bachelor's degree in a related field.
* 8-10 years' experience, 6-8 years of which must be claims experience handling body injury claims, and 2 years of which must be experience in litigation.
* Must possess and maintain all necessary licenses to adjust claims.
SPECIAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Essential Responsibilities:
* Working under limited technical direction and within broad limits and authority, adjudicate moderately complex commercial general liability bodily injury claims, potentially with significant impact on departmental results.

* Possession or the ability to quickly obtain a license in each jurisdiction requiring a license to adjudicate first party claims. A Florida or Texas claims license is strongly preferred.

The Inside Broker is responsible for assisting the Broker in developing, managing, and sustaining profitable business by providing high level technical expertise. The role is responsible for managing a broker's book of business in-house using deep knowledge of initial risk assessments to secure the best coverage and place it smoothly in the right market. They provide customer service, resolve client inquiries through efficient communication, and process routine and complex transactions accurately.

Responsibilities:
Collaborates with brokers to craft seamless service and strategic market placement for commercial accounts, ensuring client satisfaction and loyalty.
Demonstrates knowledge of commercial insurance coverages, evaluates submissions from retail insurance brokers, and identifies exposures and coverage required.
Analyzes risk exposures and coverage needs from broker submissions, exercising independent judgment and discretion to strategically place risks with optimal carriers.
Determines suitable insurance markets for quote requests, secures quotes, and manages the placement process according to broker and market agreements.
Analyzes and negotiates optimal quotes terms for coverage and pricing and explains quote details to brokers to facilitate binding decisions.
Ensures lead generation through outbound calls, analyzes online and phone quote activity, and identifies opportunities to expand the business.
Drives revenue development and growth of personal book of business through assigned sales targets.
Partners with retail agencies and brokerage, acting as a key liaison between insurance markets and retail brokers and addressing their needs.
Ensures meticulous account management by attaching and maintaining all necessary documents for the appropriate policy and account.
Participates in assigned educational courses, professional designations, and licensing programs.
Work Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of experience in Wholesale brokerage, Commercial insurance coverages, Sales or Underwriting with a Bachelor's degree, or 3 years and a Master's degree.
Education:
Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree preferred; Business Administration, Sales, and Risk Management preferred. Any other related discipline or commensurate work experience considered.
Licenses and Certifications:
Prescribed: Minimum requirements for state P&C and/or surplus line licenses.
Preferred: Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), Certified Insurance Service Representative (CIS)
