As a Lead Welder at Ryerson, you will be responsible for all welding related tasks as well as other responsibilities that are assigned.
Roles and Responsibilities
* Set up and operate equipment to cut material, chamfer, debur, or groove parts as required by processing instruction
* Applies appropriate welding processes to join various sized weldments or make repairs to weldments or individual plates
* Works according to layouts, drawings, blue prints, work orders and schematics using manual, robot or semi-automatic welding equipment. May need to lay out and mark weld points on parts or sub-assemblies of some materials
* Position pieces to be welded into jigs, holding fixtures, guides and steps using measuring instruments and hand tools
* Unloading inbound trucks using forklifts and overhead cranes
* Review and understand customer tickets
* Locating material and verifying grade, size and quantity, by visually inspecting and physically measuring material
* Inspects all completed work for conformance to required material specifications
* Willing to perform other jobs as needed based on qualifications

Requirements
* Minimum 3-5 years welding experience
* Minimum 3 years experience in a steel or industrial warehouse setting preferred
* Knowledge of and ability to use tape measure, micrometer and caliper a must
* Forklift and/or overhead crane experience
* Computer proficiency
* Detail oriented
* Successfully pass a skills-based assessment - evaluates your reading, math, inspections & measurement, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills
* Successful candidates will be enrolled in a registered apprenticeship program as part of their onboarding

Director of Global Quality
Ferguson is hiring a US-based Director of Global Quality to drive global standards, governance, and alignment with enterprise priorities, supporting our 22 brands, which collectively generate approximately $3B in sales.
Location: This role is approved to be Remote anywhere in the US. Our preference would be for this position to be based at our Newport News, VA HQ. Relocation is an option for the right individual.
Role Objective
Lead and unify the global Quality Assurance and Control teams, driving the implementation and maintenance of consistent quality objectives for all products sourced and manufactured by the company. Ensure products are safe, compliant, and meet or exceed legal, regulatory, and industry standards. Foster strong collaboration and coordination with the Product Assurance (PA) team to deliver a unified strategy and standards for quality execution across the enterprise.

Strategic Leadership
Champion the development and execution of a unified global quality strategy, aligning with Product Assurance and other key partners.

Facilitate cross-functional teamwork to address product quality issues, recalls, and corrective actions.
Operational Excellence
Oversee the implementation of effective measurement and control systems, including audits, inspections, and vendor scorecards.
Ensure robust pre- and post-shipment inspection plans, aligned with company goals and product risk levels.
Manage the global quality team: recruiting, training, developing, and inspiring high performance.
Support and enforce corporate policies and initiatives related to quality.
Reporting & Continuous Improvement
Develop and maintain KPIs and reporting systems to measure quality performance and drive improvement.
Document findings, communicate results, and escalate issues as appropriate.

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality, or related field; advanced degree or certifications (CQE, CMQ/OE) preferred.
10+ years' experience in quality management, with proven leadership in global environments.

Strong knowledge of global regulatory requirements for consumer and commercial products.
Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, and technology-driven quality management processes.

As a Welder at Ryerson, you will be responsible for applying welding and fabricating processes to metal and ensuring quality and customer standards are met.
Roles and Responsibilities
* Applies appropriate welding and assembling applications in a fabrication environment and processes metals such as carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum
* Works according to the layouts, work orders, and blueprints MIG and TIG welding equipment; will need to lay out and mark weld points on parts or sub-assemblies of some material; will also need to position pieces to be welded into jigs and fixtures using measuring instruments and hand tools
* Inspects completed work for conformance to specifications
* Observes all standard safety practices and maintains and completes all required records
* Working in a safe manner as outlined during training and using prescribed safety equipment including PPE
* All other duties as assigned or duties, responsibilities, and activities may change at any time with or without notice
Requirements
* Successfully pass a skills-based assessment - evaluates your reading, math, inspections & measurement, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills
* Minimum 3 years experience in a steel or industrial manufacturing setting preferred
* Extensive MIG welding experience, TIG welding experience preferred
* Forklift and overhead crane experience
* Physical ability to pass physical requirements exam for vision, hearing, and mobility
* Successful candidates will be enrolled in a registered apprenticeship program as part of their onboarding
