1911

In 1911, the two men formed a partnership and began to market their invention.

Founded in 1911, the Rogers Park-based company designs and manufactures switching, protection and power-quality products for electric power transmission and distribution systems.

In 1911, word of the fuse spread quickly in the young, fast-growing utility industry.

1914

In 1914, Schweitzer and Conrad moved their operations to the Degan Building at Ravenswood Avenue and Berteau Avenue.

In 1915, the partners invested $30,000 and constructed a new one-story factory at 4435 N. Ravenswood Avenue.

So in 1924, they built their first laboratory for mechanical and electrical testing.

1930

Yet by the end of 1930, Conrad had withdrawn from managing the daily operations of the firm due to ill health.

1945

Under the new leadership of John Conrad, Nicholas Conrad's son who had been working for the firm since 1945, the company remained committed to developing better uses for its specialty power fuses and interrupter switches.
