The Senior Production Planner plays an important role within the production planning department, leveraging extensive experience and an understanding of business needs to handle the planning of resources for intricate product lines. The Production Planner plans, measures, and monitors capacities of a product line with in the organization. The Production planner forecasts and plans capacity requirements to ensure alignment with department, and acts on variances from production schedules, resource levels, and inventory demand. The Senior Production Planner takes on more challenging investigative tasks, particularly regarding serial number knowledge and product intricacies. They play a vital role in problem-solving within Oracle ERP and provide guidance to junior team members on department best practices.
Key Responsibilities:
Coordinate the scheduling and production planning for assigned complex assembly lines at S&C.
Determine the needs of the line to ascertain supply requirements and determine optimal scheduling for assembly operations.
Monitor current inventory counts, dynamically recommending purchases based on adjusted production schedules and recommending adjustments to on-hand numbers when appropriate.
Act as a liaison between different internal customers, facilitating communication and ensuring all parties are informed when production schedule adjustments or other changes are needed.
Implement all types of engineering change overs and manage complex cutovers to production bill of materials.
Update and maintain production forecasts in Oracle ERP based on demand data provided by the Sales department, ensuring target numbers accurately reflect demand fluctuations.
Investigate and address challenges related to serial number tracking, product variations, and supplier issues, collaborating with the Buyers to develop resolutions when needed.
Generate and issue reports, both ad hoc and regular schedules, such as weekly or monthly forecasts. Provide recommendations to leadership and to Buyers based on data presented in reports.
Work with auditors to review the function's practices, providing documentation and demonstrating specific processes when requested.
Collaborate closely with product development and engineering teams to integrate new products and components into existing production processes seamlessly.
Mentor and coach junior Production Planners, providing guidance and support in navigating complex production scenarios and honing their skills.
Support projects, such as A3 problem-solving efforts, as assigned by department leadership.
Understand and comply with all applicable Company policies and rules.
Maintain regular and punctual attendance.

What you'll Need To Succeed:

The Production Planning department is responsible for facilitating the requisition of production supplies and materials used in S&C's products, including ordering, contracting, and managing relationships with suppliers.
The Buyer is responsible for ensuring that production teams receive the supplies and materials they require in a timely and cost-effective manner. In this job you will be responsible for performing in-process and final inspections of sub assembles and products per the appropriate standards and specifications. This position will report to the site Manager - Quality Assurance. In this job, you will be primarily responsible for leading a team that supports mechanical inspection, and incoming/component inspection. The inspection supervision responsibilities will include creating and maintaining inspection plans, working with S&C Fabrication Supervisors and Supplier Quality to resolve quality issues, and making sure all non-conformances are documented in the Oracle NMR collection plan. Finally, the leader will be responsible for implementation and maintenance of Oracle software for all fabrication and incoming supplied parts.
The mechanical inspection responsibilities will include verifying all required mechanical assembly inspections are completed using approved standards and ensuring that all defects coming off the product lines are recorded appropriately.
Also in this role, supporting tool control and calibration-related responsibilities will be of importance, including verification that all instruments are calibrated on time, investigating any non-conforming instruments to verify that product quality has not been compromised, and handling administrative logistics, such as creating purchase orders, obtaining quotes, and scheduling on-time calibration and recertification of measuring tools belonging to the inspection team.

This role involves close collaboration with engineering and design teams to resolve issues identified during testing and mentoring junior team members.
Key Responsibilities:
Execute complex functional tests on electrical products and systems following established procedures.
Read and interpret multi-faceted/complex blueprints, wiring diagrams, and schematics to perform accurate tests and troubleshooting.
Collaborate with engineering and design teams to troubleshoot and resolve issues encountered during testing.
Provide guidance and training to Test Technicians and other junior team members.
Maintain and calibrate testing equipment, ensuring it is in proper working condition.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the testing department, including updating procedures and processes.
Identify and diagnose issues during testing and take corrective actions or escalate them as needed.
Utilize basic hand tools and measuring devices such as tape measures and multimeters under supervision.
Maintain accurate records of tasks performed, deviations, and any quality concerns.
Adhere strictly to safety protocols while handling tools, equipment, and materials. Report any safety hazards promptly.
Perform assembly tasks as assigned by supervisors to support production needs. This includes all requested assembly tasks, even those that are not typically performed by this role on a day-to-day basis.
Meet department targets and consistently adhere to quality and safety standards, including the use of lifting devices and other ergonomic or safety devices when required.
Understand and comply with all applicable Company policies and rules.
Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement manufacturing principles.

Required:
5+ years of experience in electrical assembly or testing roles, with great troubleshooting skills.
Advanced knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems. Able to complete complex troubleshooting tasks to identify issues within these systems.
Ability to understand blueprints and electrical schematics.
Ability to train and mentor less-experienced team members.
Willingness to work in a manufacturing environment on a product floor and open to learning new concepts of electrical/product testing.
Proficient in performing precise and delicate tasks using hands and fingers. Able to manipulate small objects, operate tools, and handle intricate equipment effectively.
Great attention to detail, with the ability to follow detailed instructions and identify correct vs. incorrect product functions.
Great communication skills (written and verbal) with the ability to articulate information efficiently and effectively to team members in a variety of production support departments.
Good computer skills with the ability to review and respond to requests and use Microsoft applications.
Basic shop math skills with the ability to calculate measurements.
Sound interpersonal and organizational skills with the ability to understand and complete requests given by team members inside and outside of the department.
Ability and willingness to follow Health, Safety & Environment procedures accurately, reporting concerns promptly to the safety action team.
Willing to support production teams with non-typical tasks, including assembly work.
Preferred:

As a Machinist, you'll be crucial in ensuring smooth operations and supporting our diverse team. In this job you will be setting up and operating a variety of CNC Turning, Vertical and Horizontal machining centers. Duration of set-ups varies, once set-up, running times vary depending on the job order. You will be working in a production environment where all jobs have a measured standard production rate, and you will be responsible for the quality of your work. As a Production Engineer Co-op, you'll be crucial in improving the current production environment, ensuring smooth operations and supporting our diverse team.
The Production Engineering Intern will assist the Manager - Quality Assurance and other engineers with projects with engineering enhancement, documentation of current processes, an active member in problem solving efforts, testing, and more. Projects are related to manufacturing engineering, assembly of switchgear, quality assurance projects, equipment validation, and modifications to existing process systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform engineering tasks/calculations.
Write basic functional descriptions of different electrical systems.
Analytical thinking and performing SPC calculations based on data collection
Presentation of information to engineers and management regarding findings or issues
Prepare engineering documentation for various projects being performed by engineers
What you'll Need To Succeed:
Must be in good standing as a current student at the Bachelor's degree level at an accredited university majoring in Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Engineering.
Comfortable commuting to and working onsite at S&C Electric in Palatine, IL.
Ability to work Part-Time in Fall 2025 for a minimum of 20 hours per week.
Excellent communication skills and basic math/bookkeeping skills.
