PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Operate one or several types of power construction equipment including but not limited to motor-graders, bulldozers, rubber tire backhoes or trackhoes, rollers, articulated dump truck drivers, front-end loaders or hydraulic excavators to excavate, move, and grade earth, erect structures, or pour concrete, asphalt, or other hard surface pavement on roadbeds, parking lots, airport runways and taxiways. Will perform minor repairs and maintain equipment in addition to other duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Commercial Heavy Grade
1.) Load and move dirt, rocks, equipment, or other materials, using trucks, power cranes, shovels, or related equipment.
2.) Start machine, engage clutch, and push and move levers, switches, and pedals to guide machine along forms or guidelines and to control the operation of machine attachments, such as blades, buckets, scrapers, or swing booms.
3.) Drive and maneuver equipment equipped with blades in successive passes over working areas to remove topsoil, vegetation, or rocks or to distribute and level earth or terrain.
4.) Operate machinery to spread, smooth, level, stone, concrete, or asphalt on road beds or other job sites as needed.
5.) Operate tamping machines or manually roll surfaces to compact earth fills, foundation forms, and finished road materials, according to grade specifications.
6.) Observe grade in order to adjust machine settings to correct uneven areas such as high or low areas where materials may need to be added or cut.
7.) Conduct documented pre-shift inspections of equipment for safety and mechanical defects in accordance with company TPR standards.
8.) Work long, flexible hours as demanded by our customers including nights, weekends, and work outside for extended periods during all seasons of the year.
9.) Align machines, cutter heads, buckets or depth gauge markers with reference stakes and guidelines or ground or position equipment, following hand signals of other workers.
10.) Coordinate machine actions with other activities or trucks by positioning or moving loads in response to hand or audio signals from crew members.
11.) Inspect, clean, maintain, and repair equipment, using mechanics' hand tools. Conduct pre-shift inspections and report any concerns or malfunctions to supervisors.
12.) Learn and follow safety regulations and be held responsible for at-fault accidents.
13.) Take actions to avoid potential hazards or obstructions, such as utility lines, other equipment, other workers, or falling objects.
14.) Perform necessary work while complying with all company policies and procedures as well as any regulatory authority (i.e. OSHA, MSHA, etc.)
15.) Perform additional duties as required or directed by their immediate supervisor or other manager.
16.) From time to time will preform general labor duties such as shoveling, raking, climbing inclines, as well as lifting, carrying, and loading materials on uneven terrain.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education:
High school diploma or GED preferred
Must be a minimum of 21 years old.
Work Experience:
Minimum of 2 years' operating heavy equipment experience on a backhoe, dozer or excavator.
Must be able to fine grade with a bulldozer and excavator.
Experience on multiple machines a plus.
Grading and excavation on commercial job sites required.
Must have a good work ethic and work as a team player.
If not operating heavy equipment the candidate will be required to perform general labor work if needed.
Qualified candidate should be able to read plans and work with grades.
Other:
Must have reliable and dependable transportation to the job site.
Working outside in all types of weather is a must in this industry.
Regular and constant attendance is a must.
If needed, must be willing to work nights and weekends.
Applicant must be able to pass a background check for the NC Ports and military bases.

3. Climb on, over and around a company vehicle in order to perform pre/post trip vehicle inspections as well as to secure loads.
4. Lift truck hoods, product or equipment and tools necessary to perform inspection, repair, loading and unloading of trucks.
5. Support and assist shop personnel with any required repairs.
6. Wash trucks, clean truck cabs, climb up and down truck washing facilities.
7. Work outside for extended periods during all seasons of the year.
8. Operate the vehicle in a safe, lawful and courteous manner at all times.
9. Keep vehicle, cab interior and exterior clean and mixer drums free from concrete buildup, stones, debris and loose objects.
10. Read road signs and follow written or verbal directions.

PRIMARY FUNCTION:
The efficient management of assigned projects or operations. Position has direct responsibility for personnel, equipment, scheduling, safety, quality workmanship and completion of assigned projects on time and within estimated budget.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Commercial Grade Division Foreman
Supervise and direct crew to assure completion of assigned project as instructed by the superintendent, assistant superintendent, and/or the project manager.
Ensure that new personnel are adequately trained in company policies, safety requirements and job responsibilities.
Conduct periodic evaluation of assigned personnel with special emphasis on their contribution to the company and our contribution to them.
Assist and direct crews in proper use of equipment, improving job performance, controlling cost and quality of work, increasing productivity, improving communication and housekeeping on project.
Perform equipment inspections, request maintenance and repairs as needed.
Monitor crews and maintain regular work hours. Maintain daily payroll records and log hours worked for each employee assigned to you.
Maintain daily diary, recording conversations, weather conditions and events which could be used for future reference.
Complete all required daily reports, verify their accuracy and transmit promptly to the superintendent, assistant superintendent, and/or project manager.
Ensure all work complies with local laws, ordinances and EPA regulations. This includes all subcontractors working on your project.
Ensure all work is performed with emphasis on safety. Insist upon compliance of all safety regulations. Conduct weekly tool box meetings with safety on the agenda.
Maintain good relations with general public, engineers, architects, inspectors and customers to facilitate job progress and to promote a positive company image. Develop a courteous and considerate attitude toward these groups.
Encourage the development of corporate unity, insuring team spirit and pride throughout the company.
Perform additional duties as required in the operations of the project or as directed by the superintendent, assistant superintendent, and/or project manager.
Must have regular and predictable attendance.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education:
High School Diploma or GED preferred.
Must be a minimum of 21 years old.
Work Experience:
Minimum of 3 years' experience as a crew leader or foreman.
Only candidates with experience in NCDOT Roadway and/or Federal projects need apply.
Required experience in grading and paving for sitework, subdivisions, highway work, traffic and erosion control.
Must have the ability to read blue prints, develop grade work and schedule crews and equipment. Base experience a plus.
Must have the hands-on ability to operate heavy equipment and train others.
Basic computer skills are a must.

Must have clean MVR and a valid driver's license.

Concrete Finishers
Operate a variety of complex equipment including trucks, backhoes, air compressors, hydro hammers, jackhammers, vibrators, brooms, pumps, loaders, concrete saws and mixers, hammer drills, generators and other similar equipment and machinery in repairing and installing concrete.
Assist with preparation of concrete base including setting wood forms and positioning steel; measure and pour concrete; finish concrete; remove wooden forms and backfill; clean site; spread loam.
Signal equipment operators to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of machinery, equipment, and materials.
Clean and prepare construction sites to eliminate possible hazards.
Control traffic passing near, in, and around work zones.
Mix cement, sand, and water to produce concrete, grout, or slurry, using hoe, trowel, tamper, scraper, or concrete-mixing machine.
Wet concrete surface and rub with stone to smooth surface and obtain specified finish. Wet surface to prepare for bonding, fill holes and cracks with grout or slurry, and smooth, using trowel.

Work long, flexible hours as demanded by our customers including nights, weekends, and work outside for extended periods during all seasons of the year.
