Essential Duties & Responsibilities
* This position performs responsible work and supervision of contractors in all aspects of the maintenance of public parks property including concessions buildings, restroom facilities, maintenance buildings, structures, fencing, parking lots, walkways, playgrounds, signage, lighting, equipment and other hardscape amenities within the city parks.
* Performs minor repairs to facilities to include, but not limited to, painting, replacing light bulbs, door locks, fencing, soap dispensers, etc.
* Repairs athletic equipment and other amenities. Maintains and/or supervises the repair and maintenance of playground equipment and surfacing to ensure safe and proper operating condition and adherence to ASTM standards.
* Develops contractor scope of work, prepares work orders and assigns to contractors; monitors work order progress, inspects and evaluates work.
* Performs a variety of inspections related to park maintenance and safety.
* Establishes methods and schedules to ensure projects are properly completed. Formulates the scope of work for informal and formal bids.
* Prepares a variety of reports, records, and documents including the utilization of an enterprise work order system.
* Participates in the preparation of departmental budget requests and proposals. Monitors expenditures in assigned area to assure fiscal control.
* Interacts and communicates with contractors, city administrators and the general public. Required to obtain NIMS (National Incident Management System) training ICS 100, 200 & 700. In the event of a disaster or declared State of Emergency, be on 24-hour emergency call for public assistance.
* Must have the ability to work a flexible schedule, typically 8 hours/day Monday through Friday, and to include 24-hour, 7-day emergency service.
