Who You Are: The Safety Manager is responsible for proactively and strategically developing, coordinating, and directing company-wide safety compliance programs, systems, and initiatives, to include safety training, incident investigation/follow-up, incident prevention programs, safety awareness programs, and minimizing risk exposure(s). The position is pertaining to recurring maintenance and minor repair of fuel facilities for the Department of Defense (DoD). *This position is contingent upon award. What You'll Do: Manage the Safety Management System (SMS) for RMMR. Specifically, implement comprehensive safety programs and policies in accordance with applicable safety regulations, USACE EM 385-1-1 guidelines, and industry best practices. This includes creating safety plans, procedures, and protocols specific to maintenance and repair projects within the USACE RMMR program. Ensure that the SMS integrates with other corporate functions. Monitor and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local safety regulations, as well as USACE EM 385-1-1 and service-specific safety standards. Stay updated with regulatory changes and communicate updates to project teams and contractors. Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify potential safety hazards and non-compliance issues. Ensure identified deficiencies and areas for improvement are tracked and trended. Work with project teams and contractors to implement corrective actions. Monitor the effectiveness of corrective measures. Identify potential safety hazards and assess risks associated with construction activities. Conduct accident hazard analyses (AHAs) and safety assessments to proactively address potential risks. Develop and implement strategies to mitigate hazards and reduce risks to an acceptable level. Develop and deliver safety training programs to project teams, contractors, and other personnel. Ensure that all workers receive appropriate safety training, including new-hire orientations and specific training for high-risk activities. Promote a culture of safety through awareness campaigns and educational initiatives. Lead and conduct thorough investigations of safety incidents, accidents, and near-miss events. Identify root causes and contributing factors and recommend corrective actions to prevent future incidents. Prepare and submit incident reports to regulatory agencies as required. Perform regular safety audits and inspections to assess compliance with safety policies, procedures, and regulations. Identify deficiencies and areas for improvement, and work with project teams and contractors to implement corrective actions. Monitor the effectiveness of corrective measures. Develop and implement emergency response plans and procedures. Coordinate with project teams, contractors, and local emergency services to ensure preparedness for potential emergencies. Conduct drills and exercises to test the effectiveness of emergency response plans. Promote open lines of communication regarding safety matters among project teams, contractors, and regulatory agencies. Collaborate with stakeholders to resolve safety-related issues and foster a proactive safety culture. Participate in safety meetings, committees, and industry organizations to stay informed about safety trends and best practices. Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local safety regulations, including Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards. Familiarity with USACE EM 385-1-1 safety regulations, policies, and guidelines is mandatory. Be comfortable with briefing senior officials and conduct summary status briefings no less than quarterly. Supervisory: This position may have supervisory responsibilities. If supervisory responsibilities exist, and the individual must mentor subordinate staff. What You'll Bring: Must have a bachelor's degree in occupational health and safety, engineering, or a related field. Relevant work experience in safety management, preferably in the construction, repair, or maintenance industry, is preferred with a minimum of 5 years safety experience. Have experience and familiarity with Safety Management Systems. Documented proficiency in developing and implementing safety programs, policies, and procedures. Experience in hazard identification, risk mitigation practices, and incident investigations. Knowledge of safety training techniques and the ability to develop and deliver effective safety training programs. Must be able to read, write and speak English fluently. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, contracts, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors. Successful results of preemployment screenings, including federal background check, MVR, and drug screen. Comply with company drug and alcohol policy. Be authorized to work in the US or will be authorized by the successful candidate's start date. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Certain openings may require a professional license or certifications depending on the client and project requirements. Certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Occupational Health and Safety Technician (OHST), Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST), or similar credentials, is desirable. Software/Technical Skills: Proficient in QuickBase, MS Office and MS Project and/or other software programs applicable to job type. Knowledge and ability to work in USACE RMS required. Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This position requires the individual to use the computer working at a desk in either an office or cubicle; must be able to talk and hear, reach with hands and arms, lift up to 10 pounds, stand, sit and walk. This position requires the individual to ascend and descend ladders, scaffolds, stairs. Candidate must be able to respond quickly to sounds and dangerous situations, if needed. Must be able to wear personal protective gear most of the day. Must have close and color vision, use depth and peripheral vision, and be able to adjust focus. Responsibilities Monitor safety efforts of subcontractors and Brinkmann employees Discuss safety with the on-site Subcontractors Supervisory Personnel Coordinate with Project Supervision so that necessary personal protective equipment and safety materials are utilized Record and forward copies of all safety related meetings, programs, safety pre-plans, inspections, correspondence, directives, citations, etc. to the Safety Director for tracking Coordinate responses and compliance with requirements of inspection reports from Brinkmann's insurance company Conduct documented Project Safety and Health Inspections Investigate all injuries and review all accident reports, coordinating corrective measures with Brinkmann employees or Subcontractor Personnel Keep current all required safety documents and literature Monitor protection of public by minimizing construction hazards Monitor maintenance of adequate first aid supplies Maintain OSHA 300 log of injuries and illnesses Implement Brinkmann safety policies, procedures, and programs Work directly with the Safety Manager, project managers, and superintendents to ensure safety is built into every project Coordinate compliance with Brinkmann's Storm Water Pollution and Prevention Plans Other duties as assigned Qualifications Bachelor's degree in related field preferred Multi-family construction experience preferred Experience managing the safety efforts on large construction projects preferred; prior field experience preferred Ability to manage/administer safety orientations, oversee substance abuse program, investigate/report on injuries/illnesses/near misses and other to perform other various safety functions on-site Ability to work with all construction groups: management, owners, trades and subcontractors Must have excellent communication, organizational, decision-making and problem-solving skills Working Conditions: Work is primarily performed outdoors in various weather conditions with exposure to health or safety hazards, including noise level ranging from moderate to loud. Physical effort is required, including the ability to walk the job site, climb ladders and scaffolding, lift loads up to 50 lbs., perform hands-on work when necessary. We are seeking to hire an External Manufacturing Food Safety, Quality and Operations Specialist. This role is critical in ensuring the safety, efficacy, and quality of externally manufactured products distributed in the U.S. This position will be based in Cleveland, OH with the expectation of traveling to our supplier sites. The role will provide day-to-day operational and quality oversight, while being fully integrated into Sundays' national Quality & Food Safety team. In addition to quality and compliance responsibilities, this role will also support company administrative tasks as directed by the Director of Quality and Food Safety, helping to ensure seamless execution of team and departmental priorities. This role is the first of it's kind and has the opportunity to make an incredibly positive impact in our operations. It will report to our Director of Quality & Food Safety. What You'll Do: * Quality & Compliance Support the development and execution of the Quality Strategy for External Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Distribution.Ensure quality systems are implemented and maintained in compliance with FDA, USDA, GFSI schemes, and Sundays' QFS policies.Assess, qualify, and monitor external suppliers and new/potential contract manufacturers for suitability and effectiveness of QMS.Apply Quality Risk Management techniques to resolve issues and mitigate risks with suppliers and distribution partners.Support audits and regulatory inspections; contribute to CAPA development and timely closure of issues. Operational Oversight Monitor and ensure GMP compliance across external manufacturing and distribution sites.Coordinate product testing, release, complaint handling, internal auditing, and supplier management activities.Collect and analyze data from audits, customer feedback, and performance metrics to drive process improvements.Escalate and resolve quality deviations that may impact supply, product integrity, or customer satisfaction. Leadership & Collaboration Provide subject matter expertise to internal teams and external partners on food safety and quality requirements.Partner with Innovation teams to ensure quality compliance throughout product development and launch.Coach and mentor associates to build a high-performance, quality-first culture across the organization.Represent Sundays' Quality perspective in cross-functional forums and project teams. Administrative Support Assist the Director of Quality and Food Safety with company administrative responsibilities, which may include reporting, documentation management, scheduling, and other cross-functional tasks to support the broader Quality and Food Safety agenda. We'd love to hear from you if you have: * Education: Degree in a scientific discipline (Food Science, Animal Science, Life Sciences, or equivalent). * Experience: Minimum 5 years in a regulated industry (pet food, food, or life sciences technology preferred). Certifications & Knowledge: Strong working knowledge of GFSI schemes (SQF, BRC, ISO 22000).Lead Auditor certification preferred.PCQI certification and FDA/CFIA regulatory knowledge strongly preferred.Experience managing quality systems, audits, CAPAs, and supplier compliance programs.Proven ability to interpret and apply regulatory and quality guidance.Strong communication, leadership, and influencing skills.     The Safety Manager will work to primarily implement and manage corporate safety programs in addition to risk reduction programs. This role will conduct safety meetings, audits, and inspections to ensure compliance. The Safety Manager will evaluate safety performance, identify corrective actions, and implement follow up assessments. Areas of responsibilities may include but are not limited to: Identify, prioritize, and process safety risk reduction opportunities. Maintain a reasonable level of knowledge related to industry safety standards and Occupational Health and Safety Standards (OSHA). Assist branches with developing and maintaining programs for compliance with OHS, OSHA, Construction Safety Associations, and their local governing labor entities. Act as a liaison with governing and regulatory entities. Maintain program standards of safe operation that meet or exceed local industry standards. Develop and implement managements systems to ensure all regulatory monitoring. Assure recordkeeping and report requirements are defined, tracked and met. Work with operations and safety personnel in each location to develop and maintain a system for filing and tracking of documentation related to inspection of the workplace and equipment.
