Ergonomic Requirements The Campus Safety Staff position requires the incumbent to safely operate a motor vehicle, walk, reach, bend, climb or pull self upward, kneel, stoop, crawl, run at a moderate pace for short distances, crouch, and perform similar functions while patrolling campus and campus facilities. Exposure to inclement weather and safety hazards exists as well as possible threats of physical harm. Requires miles of walking indoors and walking and biking outdoors in all weather conditions and on hard level surfaces and up and down stairs. Position involves extended standing and walking, and some lifting weighing 10-50 pounds as well as the potential for rescue assistance of persons who may be unconscious and require moving. Working at a desk or with a computer is less than 20 percent of the work time. Working in community with faculty, staff, students, and community members will be more than 80 percent of the work time. All individuals are required to be able to perform the essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation. The position works a regular M-F weekly schedule and must proactively request overtime per COCC policies and procedures. May be required to work a flexible schedule to accommodate the campus safety needs of COCC . Persons in this position may be exposed to blood or other potentially infectious materials. All employees identified as having the potential for this exposure will be offered the hepatitis A and/or B vaccinations at no cost. The employee has the right to waive these inoculations. Minimum Requirements + Applicant must be 21 years of age, or older to be able to drive COCC vehicles. + Possess a high school diploma or equivalent. + Two years' experience in direct contact customer service position that includes answering inquiries from internal and external stakeholders, resolving conflicts; communicating information to stakeholders, and following policies.
