A mining company is seeking a Safety Representative with subject matter expertise in industrial manufacturing environments to drive critical OSHA & MSHA initiatives in southwest Wyoming. The position does not require previous MSHA/mining experience, although it is preferred.
The position will work closely with the Safety Manager to support and drive safety for ~1,000 employees across eight business units, including underground mining, surface operations, and OSHA-regulated solution mining facilities.
The Role:
Support safety leadership across underground mining, surface operations, and OSHA-regulated solution mining facilities.
Assist in managing MSHA and OSHA compliance programs, ensuring consistent application of safety policies across all business units.
Conduct routine site walks, inspections, and audits at facilities, including sites located on the mine and at remote surface operations.
Lead and support training initiatives, incident investigations, and corrective actions
Provide safety coaching and boots-on-the-ground engagement with hourly employees, contractors, supervisors, and union leadership.
Assist in coordinating safety committees, contractor safety programs, field-level policies (F-policies), and hazard remediation activities.
Partner with site leadership to strengthen the relationship between the company and the union, promoting consistent communication and accountability.
The Candidate:
5+ years of safety experience in industrial, mining, chemical, energy, or heavy manufacturing environments.
Preference for MSHA experience; OSHA-only candidates may be considered with relevant manufacturing experience.
Demonstrated success working in union environments, ideally with strong labor-management relationship skills.
Proven experience conducting field audits, training, incident investigations, and implementing corrective actions.
Strong interpersonal skills - able to coach, influence, and collaborate across a diverse workforce.
