Total Wrecking performs a wide range of demolition and environmental remediation projects with a heavy focus on power plants, large industrial projects, and specialty demolition such as sports facilities, taller structures, implosions, and the more complex projects requiring the best of the best for their demolition and/or environmental remediation needs. Location: The Safety Director will work primarily out of our Corporate Office in Tonawanda, NY but will be required to periodically travel to visit project sites for HASP development, performing safety audits, conducting on-site Training, and incident investigation as needed. Job Description: The Safety Director is a corporate level position reporting directly to the Managing Member. The Safety Director will manage all aspects of Total Wrecking's Health and Safety Program/Policies and OSHA compliance, provide direct oversight for our site level Safety Managers, and serve in an advisory role to Senior Management. Primary Duties/Responsibilities: · Assist in the development and administration of programs, policies, reports, and employee training. · Participate in the planning, organization, and safety assessments of job sites, and assist with Site Specific HASP preparation · Provide direct oversight and direction to our team of Site Safety Managers · Monitor site conditions, work practices, and procedures for compliance with OSHA and Total Wrecking health and safety programs/policies requirements. · Research and become well-versed on emerging hazards/issues, communicate hazard control and loss information to management, supervision, and employees through specialized training programs. · Develop and implement health and safety related training programs and new safety initiatives · Conduct Monthly and periodic Safety Meetings · Prepare Safety prequalification information for emerging projects · Manage all compliance reporting and employee medical monitoring · Maintain internal and external health and safety related information databases including Review of and/or participation in accident and incident investigations. · Perform root cause analysis and develop and implement corrective measures to prevent reoccurrence. · Serve as a principal source of information on health and safety issues for all corporate level departments. Provide technical safety support to the Safety/Health Coordinators Ensure compliance of all the site safety programs associated with the following serious incident and/or potential indicators: isolation and control of hazardous energy, working at heights, permit required work, electrical safety, safeguarding, elevated loads, and vehicle movement. Maintain and continuously improve safety, contractor, and industrial hygiene programs. Organize safety and health awareness, communications, education, and training. Support site-wide training programs and provide safety functional expertise. Coordinate internal and 3rd party compliance and safety systems audits. Support the continuous improvement of the incident investigation and learning process facilitated by the unit health and safety coordinators. Track corrective and prevention action plan items to timely completion including action plans for incident investigations, audits, and gap assessments. Collaborate with the Chemical Division EHS team to promote, develop, and implement the standardization of effective safety solutions across the Division. Coordinate training re-certifications for Safety department associates: CSHO, fall protection competent persons (CP), excavation CP, lifting/rigging CP, etc. Support the acquisition process of required PPE for all associates (Fire Retardant Clothing and Safety Toe Shoes). Prepare and maintain annual/periodic purchase orders for the Safety Department What We're Looking For Bachelor's degree in Environmental and/or Health and Safety or in lieu of a degree 5 or more years of experience in the EHS field. Certifications: GSP, ASP or CSP preferred but not required. One or more years of experience in Safety within a large manufacturing facility or 2 internships/co-op experiences of relevant experience.
