Position Overview The EHS Supervisor will act as the lead safety officer for the company's manufacturing operations. Initially, you'll function as a “team of one” with support from external specialists, directly supporting day-to-day safety operations and long-term strategy. You'll balance independent decision-making with cross-functional collaboration, provide technical guidance across multiple safety disciplines, and establish systems that both meet compliance standards and drive continuous improvement. Key Responsibilities (% Breakdown to Equal 100%) EHS Leadership & Culture - 40% Shape, promote, and embed a “Safety Always” culture from day one. Provide leadership and technical expertise in chemical safety, ergonomics, hazardous waste, and environmental protection. Serve as the primary EHS point of contact for executive management and external agencies. Represent EHS across a multicultural (Mandarin/English) workforce, sensitively handling cross-cultural communication and influence. Safety Program, Compliance & Risk Management - 25% Develop and implement policies and programs to ensure full OSHA and ANSI compliance; lead transition from construction (ANSI) to operations (OSHA). Oversee permitting, regulatory inspections, and all agency communication. Leverage digital platforms (e.g., Alchemy) to build and track safety and compliance training. Lead incident investigations and root cause analysis. Develop and track frontline KPIs aligned with regulatory and company objectives. Emergency Preparedness & Resource Management - 20% Create the workplace emergency response plan, then recruit and lead the Emergency Response Team (ERT) as the site grows (committee formation planned in Year 2). Conduct drills, develop crisis management processes, and coordinate external resources as needed. Assess and engage with outside expert providers if in-house capacity isn't sufficient. Operational Integration - 15% Integrate safety standards into new processes and equipment in partnership with production and engineering. Take an active role in equipment design reviews, installation, and start-up to ensure EHS compliance at every step. Partner with procurement to validate PPE specifications and ensure all products - including imports - meet U.S. safety standards. Qualifications Minimum Requirements High school diploma required; Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental/Chemical Engineering, or related discipline preferred. Equivalent combination of degree, professional certification, and hands-on EHS leadership will be considered. 3+ years of progressive EH&S leadership in semiconductor, solar, advanced, or chemical manufacturing. Professional credential (CSP, CIH, CHMM) strongly preferred; candidates actively pursuing certification will also be considered Intermediate Excel/file management (must be able to create and use pivot tables; ability with Office suite and presentation tools). Demonstrated ability to communicate complex EHS strategies and performance to leadership. Candidates must have current U.S. work authorization; we are unable to initiate new visa sponsorships for this role. Preferred Assets Previous experience building or scaling EHS programs in a startup or high-growth manufacturing environment. Direct experience with PPE sourcing, specification, and compliance (especially with imported products). Familiarity with ISO 14001, ERP platforms, and other EHS management systems.
