Job Summary The Safety Specialist is responsible for acting as the front-line safety professional conducting safety inspections, observations, investigations, safety training, and regulatory compliance for OSHA, DOT, and EPA. The Safety Specialist anticipates and predicts hazards based on experience, historical data, and other informational sources. This role identifies and recognizes hazards in existing or future systems, equipment, products, facilities, work sites and operational work procedures. The specialist evaluates and assesses the probability and severity of loss events and accidents which may result from actual or potential hazards. The specialist applies methods of conducting hazard analyses and interprets the results. The specialist provides advice and counseling about compliance with safety, health and environmental laws, codes, regulations, standards, and the related company requirements. Responsibilities Inspect workplace facilities, including tools, equipment, and machinery, to identify and correct deficiencies or potential hazards, and to ensure compliance to OSHA / DOT / MasTec USG safety and regulatory requirements. Assist local management in the investigation of safety-related damage incidents, employee injuries or occupational illnesses, and motor vehicle accidents to determine cause and contributing factors. Conduct or facilitate safety training and education programs to supervisory and field employees through formal training classes, safety meetings, or other venues. Recommend safe work processes and demonstrate personal protective equipment safety features that will reduce employees' exposure to workplace and environmental hazards. Ensure tools, equipment, materials, vehicles, and technical instruments are fit-for-purpose, functional, calibrated, and the appropriate protective equipment, methods, guard, management systems are in place to reduce or eliminate the risk of employee injuries or illnesses. Perform other duties as required and/or assigned. Conduct Training as well as Safety within the needs of the company. Qualifications Current and valid state Drivers License. Associate degree, or equivalent related work experience of 4 years. MUST have served in a Safety position within the electric utility industry. Experience as a Lead Lineman, Foreman or other supervisory role within the Overhead or Underground Distribution industry is mandatory . Knowledge of Underground and Overhead Distribution safe work practices with reference to OSHA standards. Ability to perform Training with company personnel pertaining to Electric Distribution needs and standards. Preferred OSHA Outreach Training Instructor (Construction). Current certifications or in pursuit of any of the following certifications: (1) Construction Health & Safety Technician (CHST) or (2) Certified Utility Safety Professional (CUSP). Knowledge in accident investigation following root cause analysis principles. Physical Demands and Work Environment This job operates in a field environment. This role routinely requires extended periods of bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting, lifting in awkward positions, standing, and twisting. Also, working in inclement weather conditions, such as extreme heat, extreme cold, rain, ice, snow, and wind. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. This position is physically active, with lifting required. Must be able to bend and lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Clarity of vision at 20 feet or more or 20 inches or less, with the ability to judge distance and space relationships. Precise hand-eye coordination. Ability to identify and distinguish colors. About the Role: Moltz Construction Inc. is looking for a Safety Manager to support a project in Henderson, Colorado, approximately 30 minutes north of Silverthorne. The project is a $39M water treatment plant consisting of extensive excavation, concrete, interior piping, and equipment work. The project is scheduled to last for last 28 months. As a Safety Manager at Moltz Construction Inc., you will: * Integrate into Moltz's safety culture and demonstrate proficiency in construction safety practices * Prior experience with OSHA and MSHA regulations is preferred * Lead daily safety meetings to reinforce workplace safety standards and protocols * Develop and oversee daily Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) in coordination with site supervisors * Monitor, collect, and maintain safety-related documentation from crews and subcontractors * Conduct routine site inspections, including managing and coordinating subcontractor safety walks on a weekly basis * Perform and document monthly inspections of ladders, fire extinguishers, first aid kits, and other safety equipment * Maintain accurate crew training records, including 5023 forms and relevant training logs * Oversee inventory and distribution of safety supplies, such as vests, safety glasses, and gloves, ensuring compliance with company standards * Collaborate with the Henderson Safety Team as needed to align with company-wide safety initiatives * Lead by example, and demonstrate a positive HSE attitude * Conduct reports, inspections, and lead training sessions * Facilitate involvement with relevant external partnerships related to workplace health, safety and, environment * Support internal and external assessments of the HSE Management System Qualifications and Experience: * Diploma or Certificate in HSE and/or related education or equivalency * Working knowledge of OSHA and/or MSHA standards is preferred * MSHA experience/training is preferred * 5 years' experience in construction and 2 years in safety management-related field preferred * Strong computer skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel. * Analyzes complex problems to find integrated, actionable and pragmatic solutions. * Excellent time management skills, with focus on attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy. * Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking.
