Develops, implements, maintains and updates site-specific SOP's (Standard Operating Procedures), guidelines and policies at the plant.
Provides leadership to both the STRONG and Joint Safety and Health Committees through active participation and regular meetings attendance.
Analyzes safety data to identify trends, areas of concern, and opportunities for improvement. Provides regular communication to site leadership on safety performance metrics.
Administers safety recognition systems to promote safe and healthy work performance by all teammates.

Ability, Skills, and Knowledge
Understanding of safety principles and regulatory compliance requirements, with the ability to gain certifications in First Aid, CPR, DOT, OSHA and MSHA Part 48/46, and RCRA.

Knowledge of engineering calculations for permitting, reporting, compliance and to support project goals.

Responsibilities
* Investigate incidents or near misses and report findings.
* Attend and conduct regular safety meetings with tradespersons to instruct on project safety practices and requirements.
* Conduct written daily safety inspections of work activities and ensure compliance with safe work practices.
* Take direction related to timely abatement and control of hazards.
* Lead or participate in incident investigations and emergency response.
* Conduct site inspections and track corrective actions to closure.
* Perform job safety analysis.
* Maintain jobsite-specific safety documentation.
* Coach and teach safety practices across the region.
* Conduct safety training sessions.
Essential Skills
* Safety management expertise.
* OSHA 500-hour Construction Outreach Training or greater.
* 3-5 years of construction experience, with at least 2 years in on-site construction safety responsibilities.
* Working knowledge of construction safety regulations and hazard control methods.
* Demonstrated ability to conduct safety training.

Work Environment
This is a fully onsite opportunity with the potential for overtime, as projects are time-sensitive. The current site hosts seven safety professionals and 225 workers. The position ramps up in February, with a goal of maintaining a ratio of one Safety Professional for every 29 workers onsite. Candidates will be part of a long-term project lasting approximately five years, with additional work being bid for in the future.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $45.00/hr.
