Employees will be required to climb and work from ladders, scaffolds, and elevated platforms. The scope may require climbing access ladders on plant equipment to various heights. At times, the employee must enter several types of process equipment where work is being performed. Work will occur on hard and uneven surfaces like gravel, asphalt, and cement. Where excavations are present soil conditions will be slippery at times and change as work progresses throughout the project. Work will occur in all weather conditions in an outdoor environment. Some projects require work at night. Employee will be required to perform the scope of the assignment while wearing the appropriate personal protective equipment, including but not limited to flame retardant clothing, chemical suits, respirators, breathing air equipment, rescue harness, safety harness with lanyards, hardhats, and other equipment required for personal safety. Working Environment:     Able to work at various heights, the employee will be exposed to heat, cold, dust, fumes, or gases and to changes of weather. Provide general support and assistance to the HSE department and Shipyard Project Manager by performing routine clerical and administrative functions such as drafting correspondence, scheduling appointments, or organizing and maintaining paper and electronic files. Requirements · Complete daily walkthroughs for the Shipyard and Vessels that have shipyard projects. · Daily atmospheric testing on tanks and document data for record keeping and permit approvals. · Participate in daily toolbox/safety meetings at the start of each day. · Help facilitate and store JSA and permits for Shipyard use daily. · Use computers for various applications, such as database management or word processing. · Identify hazards, mitigate risks, and suggest resources to reduce exposure. · Set up and manage paper or electronic filing systems, recording information, updating paperwork, or maintaining documents, correspondence, or other material. · Compiles information for insurance and permits upon request. · Complete forms in accordance with company procedures. · Make copies of correspondence or other printed material. · Update and report various HSE metrics in a spreadsheet - daily, weekly & monthly. · Maintain and update documents, procedures, corrective actions, and incident lists for the shipyard. · Issue control numbers for incidents, audits, and various safety documentation. · Prepare, sort, and coordinate documents in preparation for safety audits. · Track and transfer work and exposure hours. · Generate weather reports for the Shipyard. · Prepare and distribute monthly reports and statistics. · Manage Document Control and generate a tracking registry. · Create bridging documents, subcontractor questionnaires and other client-related documents. · Submit OSHA logs · Prepare data in PowerPoint and Excel for management review. · Open, sort, prioritize and distribute incoming and outgoing e-mail. · Compliance with all organizational and safety policies, practices, and procedures. The Safety Specialist will be responsible for coordinating the daily on-site safety activities while administering and implementing the Health and Safety programs that ensure compliance with statutory requirements to promote safe and healthy working conditions. Perform assignments of moderate complexity following the direction of the assigned Manager. Supports implementing established policies and procedures. Prepares reports, provides site inspections, supports established safety programs, and supports training and orientation. Duties & Essential Job Functions: Provide oversight of regulations and policies. Assist with development of site specific plans and procedures covering a variety of safety issues. Assist with implementing site safety plans and procedures. Coordinate collection and analysis of safety metrics throughout the year. Assist with Incident Investigations. Collect data, establish facts and perform root cause analysis and draws valid conclusions. Report to Health and Safety management team and recommend corrective and preventative actions. Prepare required documentation and incident reporting and create safety alerts. Develop hazard mitigation practices. Monitor, maintain, and implement Safety Management System programs to ensure compliance in accordance with all company, local, state, and federal regulations. Participate in Site Safety auditing. Observe and ensure implementation of Safe Work Practices on site including compliance with site safety requirements. Participate in daily safety meetings with assigned project team. Evaluate hazards in work tasks, work environments, and JSA's with team. Communicate results of safety meeting including action plans, personnel tasks, and targeted deadlines. Conduct or coordinate the scheduling of any safety training required. Assist with special projects as assigned. Other Functions and Responsibilities: Must have good written, verbal communication, and organizational skills. Ability to read and interpret policies, programs, and regulations. Able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and ensure prompt completion of tasks and assignments. Must be a self-starter and able to work independently. Qualifications: Required: A minimum of 8 years' experience in Construction Safety and 3+ years' as a Safety Technician. Familiarity with OSHA regulations, ANSI, and other applicable EHS guidelines and industry standards. CSST or equivalent certification, First-Aid/CPR, OSHA 10, 30, TWIC, ARSC Basic Safety. Preferred: HAZWOPER 24, 40 / HAZMAT. OSHA 500, 510 and / or 501, 511. Working towards ASP or equivalent certification.
