The Role We Want You For
The Site Safety Manager will provide support to the Project Staff and the Clayco safety team in an effort to execute corporate safety and health standards and procedures in compliance with Federal, State, and Local requirements. In addition to your project responsibilities, you shall participate in and complete all assignments designated to you. The Specifics of the Role
Assist in development of the project safety program.
Establish and conduct jobsite orientation for new project employees. Administer and record their participation in the orientation program and issue identification to those employees completing the orientation program.
Attend all initial meetings with the project staff and subcontractor representatives to clearly define their role within the confines of the project safety program.
Manage larger projects up to $160M.
Client interfacing.
Manage other Clayco Safety Supervisors on the project.
Conduct and document pre-planning safety meetings with each subcontractor representatives to establish safety procedures prior to subcontractor's activity on site.
Establish and conduct regular (weekly) safety meetings with subcontractor representatives and with project staff to ensure proper compliance.
Facilitate training for site personnel and ensure that standards are per the OSHA/Clayco and in compliance with Federal and State standards.
Ensure and maintain a log of each subcontractor toolbox safety meeting.
Review each subcontractor's safety program and ensure that it meets or exceeds the project safety program requirements.
Ensure that each subcontractor designates a safety representative that is properly trained in subcontractor's scope of work and has the proper authority to correct safety issues.
Conduct regular daily and weekly jobsite inspections and complete the safety checklist noting safety violations and corrective actions.
Record, notify and prepare written report of any violations or unsafe practices to subcontractors for immediate correction actions.
Stop at once any violation or unsafe acts or practices.
Assist the Project Superintendent in establishing and implementing proper fire prevention, evacuation, and fire control procedures.
Investigate all incidents and generate proper reports.

Alsip, IL - 60803 Environmental Health & Safety Manager Central Contractors Service is seeking an Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) Manager with experience in the construction or heavy industry environment. The emphasis will be in the area of commercial construction, petrochemical, steel, wind farm, and heavy industry environments. Essential Functions
* Be familiar with and maintain knowledge of relevant crane and rigging codes, standards, and regulations.
* Identifies and ensures compliance with environmental, health and safety standards for employees at branch locations and large heavy-industry work sites.
* Follows Corporate policies and procedures to ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations at Company facilities and work sites.
* Conducts regular and random safety inspections of work sites and facilities in order to assess operations, compliance, and to detect existing, or potential accident, fire, or health hazards. Recommends corrective or preventative action(s) and prepares evaluation, i.e. audit, report(s) for Corporate office review.
* Reviews injury/accident reports for causal factors and identifies follow up or corrective action(s) to prevent recurrence. Must be able to develop site-specific Job Hazard Analysis (JHA).
* Conducts regular safety meetings with management and employees.
* Implements established, EHS policies, procedures, and written communications.
* Understands DOT compliance and ability to maintain driver files.
* Prepares and disseminates information on safety issues on a regular and timely basis.
* Responsible for personal, professional development. Maintain professional development through training, seminars, etc. that enhance knowledge of environmental, health, and safety, crane and lifting operations, rigging, forklift, and mobile elevating work platform (MEWP).
* Maintains open line of communication with corporate office through regular verbal and written communication.
Job Specifications/Experience/Education
* Bachelor's Degree preferred or 2 years of related experience as a Safety Manager in the construction or heavy industry environment, i.e. petrochemical, steel, etc.
* Valid drivers license with acceptable motor vehicle record.
* Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in written format, i.e. report writing, training, etc.
* Experience in accident investigation.
* Computer literate, proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.

Job Description
The Field Site Safety & Health Officer (SSHO) will assist in advancing a higher standard of health and safety throughout all assigned operations of Ameritech Contracting and ensure that no employee is exposed to unacceptable conditions. The SSHO will promote the site-specific Accident Prevention Plan (APP) and Corporate Safety Program throughout the project, conduct inspections, perform audits, conduct safety training, investigate accidents and incidents, and help advance the Safety Culture across the company.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Conduct frequent and regular safety inspections (daily) of the site and subcontractors' operations.
Conduct weekly formal documented inspections of the entire construction area with subcontractors' “Trade Safety and Health CPs” present in their respective work areas.
Coordinate with and report findings and corrective actions weekly to ACE Contracting Officer Representative.
Be present on-site when excavation/trenching/shoring is active to monitor safety and ensure the excavation/permit is appropriately completed.
Engage heavily with project managers, safety personnel, superintendents, foremen, craft workers, clients, and facility personnel.
Audit project documentation for compliance with ACE EM 385, Site APP, and the Corporate Safety Program.
Conduct Toolbox Talks and Safety Meetings.
Perform site/client/hazard-specific safety training.
Assist with the implementation of the Medical Surveillance programs.
Handle safety-related documentation and reporting (accidents, injuries, third-party claims, utility incidents, field audits, etc.).
Coordinate company safety efforts with all project management.
Mentor field personnel and subcontractor safety staff on safety knowledge and attitude.
Monitor and oversee subcontractor safety compliance.
Perform other duties as assigned.

SSHO Candidate Qualification Requirements:
A candidate must meet at least one of the following criteria:
OSHA 30-Hour Construction Certification (updated within the last 5 years)
Plus: A minimum of five (5) years of construction industry safety experience (within the last 10 years).
OR
A minimum of three (3) years of construction industry safety experience, and one of the following certifications:
Certified Safety Professional (CSP), or
Construction Safety and Health Technician (CSHT), or
Degree in safety and health from an accredited university or college.
