The Safety Manager is responsible for leadership, team development and all aspects of developing and implementing health and safety plans, enforcing policies, and evaluating practices and facilities to ensure compliance with legal regulations. Role & Responsibilities * Plans, implements, manages, and maintains comprehensive safety & health programs in conformance with plant rules, safety standards and company policies; Conducting safety meetings, audits, and inspections to ensure compliance, identify corrective action, and implement follow-up assessments. * Collaborates with management during internal and external audits and inspections of the workplace to ensure teammates are safe in their operations and surrounding environment; prepares notices for management to issue for abatement of any identified hazards. * Effectively communicates to convey ideas and information to others while providing coaching, teaching, and mentoring to teammates / visitors / contractors through regular, visible, on-site presence. * Serves as the primary contact for site injury and incident notification, investigation, and case management; responsible for administration of first aid for minor injuries and transportation of teammates requiring emergency/non-emergency medical treatment. * Records all incident / near miss reports timely, in a complete and accurate manner, in the Safe-ty Management System (SMS); Manages workers' compensation claims, overseeing documentation processes and collaborating with relevant stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate resolution. * Maintains a written log of safety inspection activities, reports, investigations, and related correspondence and properly post and report claims for injuries and illnesses in accordance with the regulations set forth by the Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA). * Develops, implements, and updates site-specific emergency response plans as necessary co-ordinates the on-site Hearing Conservation and Pulmonary Function testing and site-specific activities for contractor safety management program supporting efforts to ensure contractors adhere to safety procedures and policies while working on site. * Develops, implements, maintains and updates site-specific SOP's (Standard Operating Procedures), guidelines and policies at the plant. * Provides leadership to both the STRONG and Joint Safety and Health Committees through active participation and regular meetings attendance. * Analyzes safety data to identify trends, areas of concern, and opportunities for improvement. Provides regular communication to site leadership on safety performance metrics. * Administers safety recognition systems to promote safe and healthy work performance by all teammates. * Other duties may be required and will be assigned as necessary. * Must be able to pass pre-employment screening which may include a physical, background check, and drug screen. * Bachelors Degree preferred, but not required. Job Description Bilingual Safety Coordinator (English/Spanish) PAY RANGE: Based on experience Monitor and enforce safety procedures and regulations to maintain a secure work environment Ensure the company complies with all environmental laws and regulations Develop, implement, and maintain programs to identify and correct unsafe work conditions Provide oversight of programs through personal on-site inspections Conduct regular safety training sessions for new hires, employees, and subcontractors onsite Identify specific training needs and develop tailored programs to address those needs Investigate incidents thoroughly, identify root causes, and develop corrective action plans Coordinate safety training and educate employees on best practices Maintain all employee training documentation Organize a forum for active employee participation in all areas of safety Administer appropriate first aid to employees Contribute to the team effort by working closely with management and employees Maintain safety and first aid supplies, equipment, and software Secure confidential and intellectual information Perform all occupational safety and hazard procedures in conjunction with all essential duties KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of: Environmental regulations and compliance OSHA standards, requirements, and reporting Compliance with, and enforcement of, applicable Federal and State Regulations and Laws, including recordkeeping The manufacture of precast/prestressed concrete Operational procedures as related to Safety Occupational hazards and proper safety precautions Skills in: Employee relations Leadership and organization Microsoft Word and Excel Oral and written communication (English and Spanish) Time management and prioritization WORK ENVIRONMENT: Employee may be exposed to: Moving mechanical/electrical parts and equipment Fumes or airborne particles Vibration Metal preservatives Oils and greases Loud noise Heat/cold/wet conditions MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 5 years of safety experience in the General and/or Construction industry Must have extensive knowledge of OSHA safety processes and guidelines and Worker's Compensation regulations Must have successfully completed OSHA General Industry 30 hr. training course Must be CPR and First Aid certified (Trainer certification is a plus) Ability to identify known/potential exposures and recommend corrective actions Ability to work collaboratively across teams and departments Strong organizational and critical thinking skills with attention to detail Strong work ethic with a professional, positive attitude BENEFITS Health insurance Dental insurance Vision insurance Life insurance Paid time off Profit sharing Tuition reimbursement EOE - Equal Opportunity Employer #hc147347
