Primary Duties /Responsibilities: * Implement and administer programs pertaining to OSHA, medical surveillance, substance abuse testing to avoid potential liabilities and maintain a viable workforce at all Veolia facilities. * Coordinate worker's compensation, accident, and injury management programs with facility health and safety personnel to determine adverse trends and develop meaningful productive, resulting in cost-effective operations. * Assist in the development and implementation of the ISO Program initiatives. * Implement industrial hygiene programs as well as modify existing plans to meet the needs of the facility(s). * Acts as chairperson or member of improvement teams for all environmental, health, and safety programs. * Provides guidance to all levels of management regarding the utilization of appropriate practices in conjunction with regulatory requirements and changes, if necessary. * Provides training in environmental, OSHA, DOT, site remediation, reactive chemical operations, emergency response, etc. as needed or requested by the facility. * Provides appropriate research and investigation to support the development of existing and/or potential new health and safety policies as determined by management or required by federal, state, or local governmental agencies. * Administer computer programs required to support the EH&S Department. Understands federal and state environmental safety and health regulations and monitors regulatory changes as they occur. Provides technical support to corporate and plant personnel to ensure compliance with applicable environmental safety and health regulations. Advises manufacturing plants and corporate staff of regulatory changes with which the plants must comply. Advance notice should be provided so that compliance on the effective date of new regulations is ensured. Audits practices and records of manufacturing plants to ensure compliance with company programs and federal/state environmental safety and health regulations. Monitors lost-time injuries/illnesses and worker's compensation claims. Conducts Worker's Compensation loss review with Plant controller. Reviews plant safety committee meeting minutes and safety inspection reports and follows up as necessary. Reviews injury/illness and noninjury incident investigation reports and follows up as necessary. Qualifications Six years' experience performing in a Safety Engineer / Manager role in a related assembly environment are required A Bachelor's degree (B. A.) in a related field Previous experience and the ability to recognize onsite risk factors and take appropriate action with firmness and tact.
