Strong project and process management skills, with experience managing major projects and/or change initiatives. Startup and Commission Safety Manager Dennis Group safety professionals assist in the development, management, and implementation of a Health and Safety Program for all of Dennis Group's projects. Our projects are vertical, industrial construction projects involving multiple engineering disciplines and sub-contractor trades. Our safety professionals will be responsible for the safety practices of all personnel on our projects. This position requires knowledge of OSHA regulations, safety management, accident investigation and training in the construction industry. The professional will be a member of our safety department and his/her responsibilities will include, but not be limited to: Safety Responsibilities: * Assist in developing and implementing health and safety program. * Assist in developing, implementing, and coordinating health and safety training and activities. * Ensure all startup documentation, test procedures, and system handovers comply with internal and regulatory safety standards. * Facilitate and coordinate required safety and awareness training prior to commissioning activities. * Manage the approval and issuance of all permitted Commissioning activities * Lead and manage safety efforts during startup and commissioning phases across multiple project sites or areas. * Develop and implement commissioning-specific safety plans, lockout/tagout (LOTO), and energization procedures tailored to project systems and utilities. * Collaborate with engineers, construction managers, and client teams to identify and mitigate safety risks associated with equipment startup and system commissioning. * Lead and manage safety efforts during commissioning and start up planning and coordination meetings * Develop standardized start up and commissioning standards, procedures and checklists. Tailor to specific project systems and utilities as required. * Must be familiar with federal, state and local safety laws to ensure the organization complies with all current safety regulations. * Prepare and deliver safety toolbox talks and safety training topics for contractors * Prepare, implement and enforce Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and Activities Hazard Analysis (AHAs). * Attend and prepare safety actions for pre-construction conferences, pre-work meetings including inspection meetings, and periodic progress project meetings. * Conduct and document Jobsite Safety Observations * Review subcontractor safety pre-qualification submittal * Work with Construction Managers and Sr Safety Managers to establish job site safety procedures and policies during initial project mobilization and as needed during the project. * Review safety programs with client representatives and governmental agencies * Review subcontractor safety pre-qualification submittal * Researching construction safety best practices * Support talent growth within the organization. * Educate and provide training and support to all levels of Dennis Group personnel on accident/injury prevention procedures. Accidents Responsibilities: * Investigate accidents, determine "root causes", and ensure corrective actions are implemented. * Prepare and distribute data reports of accident and incident metrics, such as OSHA recordable and LT rates. Required Education Skills and Experience * Bachelor's degree in engineering, health and safety, risk management, or construction is required. * 2-5 years of experience overseeing safety activities on construction projects. * 2-5 years of work experience in developing, implementing, and coordinating health and safety training and activities for construction projects * 2-5 years of work experience in performing construction job site safety inspections and conducting special studies and investigations related to safety and health for the company * OSHA training certifications and other professional certifications * Ability to travel to job sites throughout North America as required. Job Summary A Project HSE Manager is an integral member of a project team and they are highly dedicated to the health and well-being of others. In addition to serving as a safety resource for their teammates, their main function is to facilitate Sundt HS&E programs. This position includes three 'steps' (I, II and Sr.), which provide for a progression of skill and experience. Step I is the entry level for individuals with a short experience in safety and they typically report to another Project HSE Manager. Individuals in step II have the capability of managing small to medium size/complexity projects on their own. Sr Project HSE Managers have several years of experience and the ability to manage larger and more complex projects. Key Responsibilities 1. Conducts frequent safety walks/inspections of the project and adjacent property. 2. Conducts site-specific safety orientations. 3. The ESH Coordinator actively supports Layton Construction project teams to ensure the effective implementation of environmental, safety, and health standards at site level. * Monitors safety conditions and works with the project team to ensure consistentenforcement of OSHA and Layton Construction standards and policies. * Assist ESH Manager to investigate accidents and serious near misses, collecting initial data relevant to the investigation. * Monitors workers compensation issues on Layton projects and works closely with the ESH Manager to collect and report timely and accurate information. * Conducts or assists project team site-specific safety orientations. * Participates in pre-construction meetings for Layton projects, highlighting project safety needs and issues. * Assists project team and case managers with injury management to ensure cost effective industrial medical care is provided. * Conducts industrial hygiene surveys as necessary to detect gases and noise, conductrespiration fit tests. * Provide support as required to VP-Field Operations and Human Resources personnel toensure compliance with FMLA, ADA, and Worker's Compensation law. * Provide safety related training to employees and sub-contractor employees at site level as assigned. * Participate in monthly corporate Safety Committee meetings. * Performs other related duties as assigned.
