The Safety Director leads the company wide safety program, provides coaching and support to project teams, and ensures all jobsites meet or exceed company standards and regulatory requirements. This role serves as the primary resource for field leadership, project managers, and executives to maintain a high performance safety culture across all projects.
Key Responsibilities
• Oversee the development, implementation, and ongoing improvement of the company safety program
• Partner with superintendents and project managers to plan, coordinate, and monitor jobsite safety practices
• Conduct regular site visits to review safety performance, provide training, and identify any corrective actions
• Lead safety orientations, toolbox talks, and continuing education for field employees and subcontractors

Qualifications
• Eight to ten years of construction safety experience, ideally with a general contractor
• Strong familiarity with commercial, education, healthcare, and public sector construction environments
• Ability to influence and coach field and office teams with a people centered approach
• Certifications such as CHST, CSP, or OSHA 30 preferred
• Experience leading investigations, audits, and corrective action efforts
• Strong communication and presentation skills
• Willingness to travel regularly to various jobsites

POSITION SUMMARY
The Project Safety Professional's primary responsibility is to support the project team in the implementation of Nibbi's Environmental Health & Safety program. Some travel is required between projects. Currently, all Nibbi projects are in the SF Bay Area. This position reports to the Safety Field Operations Manager.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Lead in promoting Nibbi's safety culture.
Assist project teams in monitoring all safety issues and concerns, and ensure Nibbi's standards of safety are adhered to.
Verify all work is performed in compliance with Nibbi's EH&S program and contract safety specifications.
Independently manage multiple projects and deadlines, producing complete and accurate results on time.
Support project teams in the monitoring of subcontractor safety performance.
Conduct regular jobsite and work area inspections, noting safety violations and corrective actions.
Thoroughly investigate all incidents (including near miss, injury, property damage, general liability) immediately and perform root cause analysis.
Procure Cal/OSHA project permits for assigned projects.
Ensure all safety paperwork is completed for assigned projects.
Coach tradespeople, junior safety members, and project team.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist project teams in identifying hazards and implementing controls.
Immediately address safety violations at jobsite(s).
Assist project Superintendents to establish, implement, and monitor jobsite emergency action plans.
Ensure subcontractors are working within the parameters of the Nibbi EHS program and/or Cal/OSHA regulations.
Work with Superintendents and Project Managers to obtain and manage required safety documents, signage, and equipment for all assigned jobsites.
Verify all workers have the necessary training for the tasks they are performing.
Represent Nibbi during Cal/OSHA visits, including insurance investigations and jobsite inspections.
Conduct thorough incident investigations (including near misses) and make recommendations for corrective action. Complete root cause analysis for all incidents occurring on assigned projects.
Participate in jobsite subcontractor coordination meetings and jobsite safety meetings.
Create daily, weekly, and monthly safety reports.
Serve as liaison to medical personnel, ensuring protocols and reporting best practices are followed. Follow-up with injured worker until released back to full duty or otherwise directed by EHS Manager.
Assist in the development of the project safety program.
Assist in the coordination of training for field personnel.
Other related duties as assigned or needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
Safety professional with 5 years' experience in construction preferred, but willing to consider a candidate with the right combination of construction experience and safety education. Candidates should have a strong understanding and knowledge of the construction industry and jobsite safety requirements, including health and safety hazards, and hazard control. Key competencies are communication (written and verbal), teamwork, initiative, and dependability.
Technical Skills: MS Office Suite, Outlook, ProCore. Construction Health Safety Technician (CHST) certification preferred.

Job Summary:
The position of EH&S Manager provides day-to-day safety management to the NASA AMES FOM Support Services.
Responsibilities:
• Develops, manages and maintains all safety programs to ensure the laboratory's compliance with federal, state, and local safety-related regulations, in addition to environmental health, safety, and loss prevention standards and guidelines.
• Resolves and/or escalates all safety and environmental issues in a timely fashion.
• Evaluates risk management information to identify potential safety and environmental hazards, impacts, then identifies and recommends corrective and preventive actions.
• Performs root cause analysis and investigates mishaps, and all other safety and environmental incidents.
• Responsible for timely closure manages all safety and environmental corrective and preventive actions.
• Prepares and supports programs related to the Emergency Management Plan and Business continuity Plan.
• Responsible for asbestos, lead, confined space, electrical safety, hazardous waste, LOTO, fall protection and other core safety and environmental programs.
• Ensures that all new employees and sub-contractors receive necessary Safety, Health, and Environmental training during initial on-boarding.
• Co-manages records and documents related to chemicals, MSDS, and refrigerants that are utilized by the department.
• Performs safety audits and regular physical inspections of grounds, buildings, equipment, and operations then identifies hazards and incidents of regulatory non-compliance, and recommends corrective measures.
• Effectively applies our industry methodology and behavioral modification to enforces safety and environmental standards.
• Liaison and Contractor POC for AMES Occupational Safety Program Office (OSPO)
Requirements
Key Qualifications:
• Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work.
• Strong organizational and planning skills.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to obtain an access card to the site.
Education and Experience:
• Minimum of 10 years of related Safety Management experience required.
• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent field required.
• Demonstrated understanding of Cal-OSHA, OSHA, SC-AQMD, EPA and other regulatory agencies.
• Experience with managing Government contracting requirements included in the FAR, Government Furnished Equipment and Materials, Property Accountability, and Work Control.
Preferred:
• Certified Safety Professional
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
