About the Company The Occupational Health & Safety Manager is responsible for providing a safe and healthful atmosphere within the workplace and for compliance with all federal, state and local environmental and safety regulations for the company. Conduct audits, inspections, investigations, studies and report appropriately to the relevant function heads and managers. Conduct EH&S audits and implement appropriate changes to correct or comply with regulations, standards and company policy. Perform daily safety inspections and audits of the facilities and staff: exit doors, fire extinguishers, building lights, first aid stations, PPE, job assessments, machinery and safety equipment to identify and correct potential hazards. Conduct investigation (RCA) for injuries, accidents and near hits to develop strategies to eliminate root cause or to minimize hazards. Conduct the Self-Assessment checklist (FDA) for all facilities and report findings and recommendations to TS. Coordinate industrial hygiene studies as needed (hearing test, noise, gas monitoring). Coordinate Lab Safety, Locker inspection, Parking lot inspection and Food Defense programs and plant security. Communicate on internal and external EH&S changes, trends and best practices to reduce risks and improve safety. Track safety performance at the facilities and report regularly (monthly safety meetings). Use established channels (e.g. databases, journals etc.) to monitor changes in the regulatory environment (e.g. OSHA, DOT, EPA etc.) as related to EH&S and food manufacturing. Provide recommendations and provide support for changes to internal policies and procedures necessitated by new regulations or our internal safety performance. Provide technical advice, guidance and coaching to employees on safety initiatives and changes. Qualifications A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Safety Management or equivalent is required. 7+ years of hands-on EHS management experience in manufacturing environment (preferably in food manufacturing industry). Strong working knowledge of Cal-OSHA and Federal OSHA regulations is required. Proven successful records in driving safety vision change and culture shift modeling. Safety certification is a plus e.g. Certified Safety Professionals (CSP). Strong administrative, recordkeeping, regulatory information, and follow-up skills are required. Ability to work evening shifts and weekends as needed. Ability to understand, promote, support and drive for safety vision change and culture shift modeling. Ability to interpret and be the main point of contact for OSHA and other federal/state regulation related responsibilities. What You'll Own & Impact: • Inspect facilities to identify and reduce safety, health, and environmental risks • Develop and implement company-wide inspection policies, procedures, and safety programs • Lead, document, and refine OSHA/Cal-OSHA programs and SOPs • Coach and train team members to strengthen the site's safety culture • Deliver required safety training, including emergency procedures, LOTO, hearing conservation, forklift certification, CPR/First Aid, and more • Spend at least 50% of time on the production floor assessing hazards and partnering with managers on corrective actions • Maintain and track key EHS performance metrics (TRIR, DART, audit results, etc.) • Conduct incident investigations, root cause analysis, and develop corrective action plans • Maintain Workers' Compensation injury records, OSHA 300 logs, and state/federal compliance documentation • Oversee hazardous waste, pollutants, and MSDS documentation • Partner with HR on return-to-work processes and injury case management • Manage site safety committees, including the Emergency Response Team (ERT) and S.E.E. Committee • Support emergency preparedness planning, drills, and protocols • Stay current on proposed and existing federal and state EHS regulations • Perform additional safety and compliance duties as needed What Sets You Apart: • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Safety, Occupational Safety & Health, or related field • Minimum 4 years of EHS experience in a manufacturing environment (food manufacturing preferred) • Extensive knowledge of OSHA/Cal-OSHA regulations, NFPA, ANSI, and safety best practices • Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence cross-functional teams • Skilled in Microsoft Office, safety management systems, and inspection equipment • Strong analytical skills with experience evaluating data and identifying trends • Ability to prioritize and execute in a fast-paced, hands-on environment • Knowledge of lean manufacturing concepts preferred Physical Requirements: • Ability to walk production floors, conduct inspections, and carry equipment • Periods of desk/computer work • Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs Why Join Archer Meat Snacks?
