What You'll Do: Champion Safety. Take an active role at the forefront of the workforce prioritizing safety for yourself and others to ensure all assigned plants have zero accidents and are in total compliance with all Vulcan and MSHA policies and procedures. Conduct Inspections and Audits. Conduct MSHA and OSHA compliance inspections, audits, and accident/incident investigations; develop inspection and audit checklists; participate in management systems audits and plant inspections; Assist the Regions in developing, implementing, and auditing management systems to prevent losses. Track and follow-up audit findings. Monitor Health and Safety Regulations. Stay ahead of all existing and proposed changes in occupational health and safety regulations; interpret and apply MSHA and OSHA regulations to all plants and operations. Identify Risks. Identify and evaluate risks associated with the surface or underground mining, asphalt, ready-mix, heavy-duty ships and transportation, and processing of construction materials. Investigate Accidents. Participate in investigations of accidents and near misses and the identification of root causes and corrective actions; accurately maintain a database of injury and safety information. Administer Programs and Training. Assist in developing and administering programs, such as Division and Company Safety and Health Programs and Policies, the Industrial Hygiene/Occupational Health program, Emergency Response Planning, the Continuous Materials Inventory program, Accident Prevention Initiatives, and Regulatory Compliance training. Previous experience in an industrial environment or mining/aggregates industry in either surface or underground operations is required. Operational Knowledge. Knowledge of mining, and/or landfill operations is preferred. Must have knowledge in methods of preventions of incidents, occupational injuries, illnesses, and property loss. Must demonstrate knowledge of Loss Control principles. Regulation Knowledge. Must have a working knowledge of MSHA, OSHA general industry and construction,and DOT regulations. Problem-Solving Skills.
