Key Responsibilities Health & Safety Management Lead company-wide OSHA compliance by developing, updating, and educating our teams on site specific safety programs across all facilities. Support DOT compliance, audit readiness, driver safety records, fleet safety policies and protocols. Environmental Compliance Ensure compliance with applicable EPA regulations for certain facilities (air, stormwater, RCRA, etc.). Manage Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and hazardous chemical reporting and training as required. Submit required EPA reports and participate in any audits. Requirements Bachelor's degree in a related field. A certified safety professional is preferred. Minimum of 7 years of EHS experience in manufacturing and distribution. Experience with fleet safety preferred. Expert knowledge of OSHA regulations and best practices. DOT and EPA knowledge is preferred. Proficiency in workers compensation administration and environmental reporting system. SUMMARY: Aligned Data Centers is seeking a Regional Safety Manager to oversee safety management functions for construction projects and data center operations within the Ohio Region. This position will be responsible for implementing Aligned corporate safety policies, programs, and requirements for our construction projects and established data center operations. The Aligned Regional EHS Manager must be an experienced professional in safety, health, and environment management practices. This position will be responsible for preventing incidents through proactive safety management processes for Aligned Data Center operations and construction expansion projects. This position could be based within the Eastern Ohio region, including locations such as Cleveland, Toledo, Columbus, Sandusky, or Zanesville. The Regional EHS Manager will be required to be on site to support ongoing construction or operations, and travel to the various sites will be required. GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (to include, but no limited to): Perform site visits, inspections, audits, and reviews to identify EHS management gaps, develop corrective measures, and implement solutions to sustain compliance with EHS law and company EHS strategies, policies, and standards. Leverage key performance indicators to implement continuous improvement actions for data center construction projects and existing operations. Possess tactical and strategic leadership and direction and works well with limited supervision while being responsible for compliance assurance, risk mitigation, injury prevention, and environmental management. Perform site safety assessments and compliance management reviews and report on EHS performance and tactical and strategic improvement planning with general contractors and sub-tier contractors both for Aligned construction projects and data center operations. CONSTRUCTION, GENERAL CONTRACTOR, SUB-TIER, AND TRADE PARTNER OPERATIONS RESPONSBILITIES: Effectively review, audit, and analyze for compliance risk elimination and reduction with the general contractor and trade partners for such high-risk activities including, but not limited to electrical work, excavation, fall protection, material handling, crane operations, hot-work, and hazardous material management. Conduct EHS audits of Aligned Data Centers construction sites to ensure compliance with Aligned Data Centers EHS Requirements, OSHA, DEQ., etc., and life safety requirements. Meet with general contractor management and safety team to correct deficiencies identified immediately or promptly and track audit data and correction and completion timelines. Collaborate with general contractor and trade partner leadership to develop and implement corrective action or safety improvement plans, when needed. Represent Aligned Data Centers during incident investigations, major near-miss investigations, and root cause analysis led by the general contractor and approve subsequent corrective and preventive actions. Partner with the Aligned Data Centers construction managers throughout the construction pre-bidding and review process, and analyze general contractors, trade partners, and contractors submitting bids. Offer input on contractor safety performance relating to Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR) and Workers Compensation Experience Modification Rate (EMR), and identify any OSHA, DEQ, or EPA violations. Review contractors' written safety manuals, injury prevention programs, and safety methods and offer insights to the Aligned Data Centers construction managers. Lead the contractor safety page turns for companies planning to perform work on Aligned Data Centers expansion projects or data center operational construction activities to ensure all Aligned Data Centers EHS requirements are being met. In addition, offer additions or corrections to their EHS programs and injury prevention programs (IPP). Participate in and support project related meetings or events, including but not limited to: commissioning meetings, site tours, customer visits/assessments, key high-risk activities, stretch and flex, site safety stand downs, weekly safety meetings, and weekly progress meetings. Network with other data center EHS managers within the industry, sharing and discussing innovative EHS means, products, and methods to improve safety and health processes to prevent incidents. DATA CENTER OPERATIONS RESPONSIBILITIES: Implement and manage Aligned Data Centers' EHS standards and principles, policies, procedures, and practices, including but not limited to EHS management systems, risk assessments, and assistance with industrial hygiene assessments as required. In addition, ensure that Aligned Data Centers comply with OSHA, Department of Environmental Quality, Environmental Protection Program regulations, or other applicable regulations. Collaborate with Aligned Data Centers staff on high-risk activities including, but not limited to, electrical work, fall protection, material handling, trenching, excavation, hot work, and hazardous material management. Manage the Aligned Data Centers EHS plans for emergencies, threatening weather occurrences, natural disasters, business continuity interruptions, political and social unrest, demonstrations, and other unique events affecting Aligned Data Centers personnel or operations. Conduct EHS audits of live, operational data centers to ensure compliance with EHS and life safety requirements. Meet with and fully assist the Aligned Data Centers operations teams in correcting identified deficiencies. Support and lead incident investigations, near-miss investigations, and root cause analysis; develop corrective and preventive actions that can be identified, communicated globally, and implemented to prevent re-occurrence. Monitor, interpret, and communicate global summaries of changes to standards and regulatory requirements of OSHA, EPA, DEQ, etc., to ensure compliance and proactive risk management. T his role will be responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of all employees, compliance with environmental regulations, and the implementation of sustainability initiatives at the plant. This role involves developing, managing, and continuously improving the plant’s safety programs, environmental practices, and sustainability efforts in alignment with corporate objectives and regulatory requirements. Compensation dependent upon qualifications. : Manager, Plant Environmental, Health, Safety, and Sustainability (EHSS) GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Manage and Lead EHS culture to excellence and assist in Sustainability objectives into business processes. Accident / Incident Investigation and follow-up, ensuring proper documentation is complete to include accident report, root cause analysis and corrective action. Report all recordable injuries to workers’ compensation, follow-up and review cases as required to close claims in an efficient and timely manner. Track and trend key EHS KPIs and provide data to help drive progress on initiatives and to help in decision making. Ensure compliance with all EHS regulations, keeping abreast of any changes to laws and regulations which impact on the organization. Develop or utilize existing tools & PPE for the employees to work safely and in total compliance with all laws, regulations, and Company policies. Develop, update, and manage workplace EHS policies, procedures, and programs. Conduct audits and inspections to ensure compliance with occupational EHS regulations as well as internal programs/policies/procedures and processes. Support department managers by advising and supporting their efforts surrounding EHS audits (LPA, CKM) / inspections; and incident investigations including OSHA recordable and near misses; and periodic evaluation of training needs. Effectively communicate information to personnel at all levels of the organization. Principally serve in a hands-on consulting and work closely with all levels of hourly, salary and union personnel. Develop and implement employee safety training programs. Conduct required EHS related training. Lead the facility’s joint health & safety team. Lead the ISO audits (ISO 14001 and ISO 45001) and support IATF audit. Participate in 5s / Lean program activities. Review all safety and environmental incidents to determine root cause and corrective action(s). Maintain visibility within the manufacturing facility, providing individual interaction as needed. Daily plant floor walks to monitor housekeeping and record any safety-related issues. Promote a proactive, facility wide safety culture. Lead in sustainability objectives. Review, Update and complete tasks on the EHS calendar. Work with the UAW safety officer. Belleville is a 24/7 operation with 3 shifts. Must have flexibility to adjust schedule as needed. Perform additional duties as assigned or required. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Strong understanding of environmental regulations, as well as industrial health and safety. Knowledge of General Industry regulations (OSHA, MIOSHA, ANSI, NIOSH, EPA, etc.). Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to work independently, accepting responsibility for facility environmental and health & safety initiatives. Excellent judgment and decision-making ability. Computer experience required, with proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and Access). Minimum of three (3) years of experience leading environmental, sustainability, health, and safety function within a manufacturing environment. Experience working with unionized workforce preferred. Minimum 5 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment.preferred. EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in relevant field with an Environmental, Health & Safety focus strongly preferred; or equivalent education and experience. OSHA 30 certification. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES This position may have direct reports. AUDIT RESPONSIBILITIES The audit responsibilities listed below are required for this position. Must be able to prepare budgets using Excel applications. Must be able to cost labor expenses. REASONING ABILITY Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
