The Safety Specialist works to ensure that all employees complete their work safely. They ensure all safety standards are being follow based on company requirements. The Safety Specialist also monitors working conditions and resolve any safety issues that may arise. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who is eager to grow their career in EHS.
The Safety Specialist establishes a process-based safety culture owned by every employee and built on the belief every incident is preventable.
Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Create and implement safety plans while ensuring that they are being followed daily
Conduct safety observation reports on a regular basis
Attend safety walks and inspections on a regular basis to analyze safety risks
Educate employees on safety standards and expectations as well as safe machinery operation
Provide recommendations for improving safety in the workplace
Ensures investigation of all HSE related incidents utilizing specific tools to drive to root cause and identify actions to prevent recurrence. Drives implementation and completion of corrective actions, including corrective actions developed from other site incidents
Collaborate with various stakeholders to drive key plant safety initiatives
Maintain documentation of the company's safety procedures, accidents and related events
Act as a liaison between management and external safety agencies, such as fire and insurance personnel
Additional duties as assigned
Requirements/Qualifications:
Three or more years' experience in safety, operations or related experience preferred
Safety Certification (OHST/CHST etc.) strongly preferred
Bachelor's degree in safety, manufacturing/logistics or engineering a plus
Proven ability to interact and provide insight and influence at all levels of the organization in leading and encouraging company initiatives and work practices
Expertise with Microsoft Suite and auditor safety software
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking and presenting abilities
Understanding of federal, state and city safety requirements, including but not limited to OSHA regulations
Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities at the same time while meeting deadlines and with dedication to the highest level of excellence
Interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish effective professional relationships with employees and plant leadership
Leadership skills, such as the ability to motivate a team and provide feedback

The Safety Manager will support the Health and Safety plan for the company and monitor risk associated with projects and company operations. Perform and oversee investigation of accidents, injuries, and unsafe working conditions to include interfacing with workers compensation claims, communication with injured workers and return to work strategies.
Train employees in the company safety policy and procedures. Ensure new employees receives safety instructions and training prior to beginning work.
Implement, inspect, and maintain job site paperwork such as toolbox talks, audits, accident investigations, Safety Data Sheets, and meeting minutes.
Provide recommendations and assistance to project managers, superintendents, field supervision and employees concerning jobsite hazards, employee training, new equipment, and materials.
Keep the Safety Manager, Safety Director and Branch Managers informed of pertinent issues.
Maintain a positive work atmosphere by engaging in a partnership with clients, subcontractors, co-workers, and senior management.
Requirements:
Valid Driver's license.
OSHA 30 Hour Construction Industry.
OSHA 510 or 550 Construction Industry.
NFPA 70E.
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field preferred.
Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in site safety management or a similar role within Construction Industry..
In-depth knowledge of federal, state, county, and local safety regulations and standards.
Proven experience in conducting safety inspections, investigations, and employee training.
Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with various stakeholders.
Experience with safety documentation and compliance procedures.
Certification in safety management (e.g., Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Occupational Health and Safety Technician (OHST)) is preferred.
Strong construction industry safety experience with understanding of construction laws.
Strong understanding of database management, safety software and Microsoft suite.
In-depth technical knowledge of construction related OSHA, federal, state, and local regulations. Subpart R and ANSI/AISC 360.
Ability to recognize hazardous situations and implement effective corrective practices.
Skilled at identifying and repairing defects in wiring, switches, motors, and other electrical equipment.
Effective communicator, generating professionally written material and delivering effective verbal presentations.

Key Responsibilities
Develop, implement, and maintain EHS policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
Conduct regular workplace inspections and audits to identify hazards and ensure compliance with safety standards.

Provide training and education to employees on safety practices, emergency procedures, and regulatory requirements.

Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory agencies and ensure timely reporting and compliance.
Stay updated on emerging EHS regulations and best practices to maintain compliance and improve workplace safety.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related field.
A minimum of 5 years of experience in EHS management or a related role.
Knowledge of EHS regulations and standards (e.g., OSHA, EPA).
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage employees at all levels.
Experience conducting training sessions and developing EHS programs.
CSP (Certified Safety Professional) or similar certification is preferred.
Proficient in EHS software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team while managing multiple projects simultaneously.

Essential Duties:
* Support management to develop, administer &/or maintain safety programs and related training.
